"How could she?" he thought to himself. "How could have I been so… so… so dumb!"
"Are you okay?" a voice asked.
He turned slowly around to see his friend Lilly. "I'm fine." he replied and turned back around on the park bench. The sun had set and he had just discovered something that he wished he hadn't.
"Look, she was never right for you in the first place." She tried to comfort him, "I mean sure, she's beautiful, she's popular, and you were popular when you were with her and…"
He interrupted her. "Not, helping!"
Lilly quickly shut her mouth and the two sat in silence. "So, how did you find out?" she asked.
"I should have suspected something when…" he started.
"Hello?" he asked into the phone clearly.
"Hey Oli!" he heard a perky voice exclaim.
"Hey Amber!" he replied. They had been dating for three months now.
"Listen, I uh, have to stay at home tonight for some reason." She told him.
"Okay." Oliver replied. "I'll see you tomorrow then, I love you." He heard the other line hang up and so he did. He grabbed the phone again and quickly looked at the clock. 7:05pm it read. He dialed Mile's house knowing that Lilly would there as well.
"Hello?" Miley asked.
"Hey, my planes with Amber fell through so would you and Lilly like to meet me at the mall?"
Miley silently rejoiced when he said his plans fell through. She wasn't jealous or anything but she just didn't like Amber and Oliver dating. "Yeah, sure. Sounds great! We'll see you in a few!"
Later that night when he was at the mall he was sitting on top of a separator taking to Miley and Lilly who were sitting on the bench below him when he looked up and saw a site he wished he could erase from his mind. His heart felt as if it had just ripped from him and stomped on multiply times. He got up and walked up to the kissing couple. "How could you!" he exclaimed.
"Oliver, it's not what it looks like!" Amber tried to defend herself.
"Then what is it?" he asked.
"It's… well… it's… I'm sorry! I hope we can still be friends!" she begged.
"How can I call you friend after what you did to me?" he questioned. He left the scene and the mall and found himself in the park.
"I should have known something was up when she called." He told Lilly.
"Well, you didn't and now she's lip locking with someone else and…" Lilly started again before Oliver interrupted again.
"Again, not helping!"
Lilly fell silent again. "Remember time heals all wounds, and you will feel much better in a few days."
