Severus looked down as he franticly scribbled his feelings toward Lily on a ripped piece of parchment. He didn't know how to say what he felt, every time her tried to tell her or say something, he just couldn't. There was always that James floating around, arrogant, snot like demeanor. As the potions class around him buzzed with whispers and laughter or learning experimenting students one Lily Evens sat aside him working vigilantly away on her potion, hogging the pot as always, Snape could only help but laugh a little at the confused look she currently wore upon her face. Her nose was a bit scrunched in a rabbit like fashion and one of her eye brows was raised as far as it possible could have been. Still tapping his finger on the note he had just written his best friend, he starred into her eyes. He seemed to be lost, only these moment were truly the ones that kept a smile on his face.

He came to a conclusion, right now, he told himself, No turning back this time, he whispered to himself. "Did you say something sevs?" Lily asked questionably.

He looked scared and coughed into the sleeve of his robes, "uhmm a no, just I thought, you would, uhmmm well here." He slid the paper to the side of her cauldron.

"OH WAIT!" Lily shouted. Just then the potion overflowed onto the note, it sank into the writing and creases of the confession it began to disintegrate before his eyes. A sorrowed look fell onto his appearance. "Ohhhh Im so sorry Sevs, what was it?" She asked genuinely. "Oh nothing, no matter, just I wrote down an ingredient I thought would help, I didnt know how to pronounce it" he answered lieing through his teeth.

"Oh hahahah" she giggled, "I guess it's a little to late for that, its okay we'll get it next time, okay?" She smiled. Severus melted as he looked at her, but felt a sense of guilt for lying to her. "oh yeah, sure" He turned around and one solemn tear dripped down his face. Before she could see he wiped it away and carried on through class. When the class ended he parted from his best friend. But the thing that killed him the most was she was ONLY a friend.
