This is how the world ends; not with a bang, or a whisper, but with a single man, and his scowl.
The air was thick with sweat, each stinking droplet that filled the air throbbed with the vibrations of the music. It was loud and thumping, the gyrations of the compacted bodies enhancing the racket with the stomping of their feet. The sweat vapour was saturating the people, sliding down the walls, pooling on the floor for a few moments before being misted into the air once again.
The judge grimaced, the music amplified to almost an ear bleeding level inside his helmet. The strobe lights made every movement of the mass mob frozen with each flash, reflected in his visor as he stands on the walkway above the writhing pit, watching.
A lone dancer looks up, eyes locking with the lawful observer, sharp focused eyes contrasting with the garish outfit and make up, all shiny fabrics and neon colours. She watched him as he watched the thrashing crowd, not seeing her as he grips the metal railing and slowly starts climbing over. Not seeing her as she pushes and shoves her way through the crowd, shouting and staring up as he stands leaning forward, ever watching.
The music drowns out every other noise, absorbing her cries, absorbing the sound of leather sliding along metal as his grip loosens, absorbing the faintest of whistles as he falls.
The music continues its pounding beat even as the crowd parts and silences, screams and gasps going unheard as they all stare down, watching the last twitches and bloodied wheezes of the dying judge splattered across the dance floor.
Holy banana-cakes Batman! I do believe I'm trying to write again, and another Dredd fic at that!
Firstly, this story is not being beta-ed so if there are fuck ups, I do apologise but just try and bear with me.
Now I can't garauntee that this'll continue to it's finish as I'm not really sure where I'm going with this atm or anything, but I'll damn well try.
