When Fred was four he learned to count to ten.
After that Fred began to notice that his Dad had a peculiar obsession with the number two.
Dad always got upset when Fred lost one of his socks and was left with only half of a pair.
Dad always had two pieces of pie or two cookies for dessert.
Dad always said "I love you" twice to Fred at bedtime.
Dad had two children (Fred would have preferred if it was only one though because all that Roxanne did was cry).
Dad had gotten Fred two kneazle kittens for his 5th birthday.
One day at dinner, after Dad had gotten really upset because one of the oven mitts was missing, Fred asked him "Dad, why do you like the number two so much?"
His Dad had gotten a very sad look in his eyes and then said "Because one is such a lonely number."
Mum had reached out her hand and put it on top of Dad's hand then, and she had said looking at him "But two is just perfect."
