Alternative plot: Rachel Turner doesn't exist. There is just Rebecca Lowe.
S5:E7 - Rebecca's thoughts while Neal leads her to the window.

Neal called her in the morning. He had something to show her. It's a surprise, he told. Rebecca didn't dare to tell him that she always hated surprises. She thinks that's it's not good to hide anything from anything. She isn't capable of hiding her feelings, she never was. So when she answered yes, sure! at the phone, Neal knew that she was worried. He reassured her: she will like the surprise.

Of course, she accepted to follow him.
She probably would accept anything from him.
Because she doesn't want to admit it, but she is falling for him.

Love is a scary thing, isn't it? Falling so hard for someone that you think he could be the one... as Neal is leading her in the streets of New York, holding her strongly by the hand, she can feel her heart racing on her chest. Neal asked her to close her eyes, so she did. She struggles to walk, afraid of a possible fall. But he is focused for two.

"There you go. It's not that big of a curb."

Neal is trying to comfort her. She smiles: she wants to trust him. She wants so badly to trust him. Not only for today, but for the other days too.

She tried not to think too much about the kiss they had last night. She was so excited by their discovery that she litterally jumped up into his arms and kissed him. It was nothing premeditated but at least he kissed her back.

So today that he's leading her into New York, hands entwined, she asks herself if things could works between them.

But maybe she has too much imagination.
Maybe it was just something professional.

"I don't like surprises. They never turn out good." She said.

She finally admites that she's a bit scared. Neal smiles. She can't see it, but she can hear it. Do you know that you can hear people smile?

"All right, we're about there."

"You know, you should know that walking the streets of New York blind is a recurring nightmare of mine."

"You can open your eyes."

Finally! She stops, looking at him. For a second, she looses herself in his gaze, before letting go of his hand and turn her eyes to watch what's in front of her. And she can't believe what she sees. She first stay silent, open-mouthed and eyes wide opened.

"It's the window from the Codex... How did you ever find it?"

"Agent Gruetzner used some of his underworld contacts."

"It's beautiful." She pulls herself closer to Neal, grabbing him by the hips, without really realized it. Neal looks at her, smiling. Actually, he didn't stop to smile since he had picked her up, but she couldn't saw it before, because of her closed eyes. Suddenly, she realizes what she's doing. She turns her gaze to Neal and hesitates. "Not professional."

"No." Rebecca's heart almost stops. "Not professional at all." She fears that he will run away from her. But he doesn't. Instead of that, he gently put his hand on her cheecks to pulls her closer to him and kiss her. While she kisses him back, Rebecca can help herself but smile.

Maybe surprises can turn out good afterall.
