Manny's PoV
Beautiful snowflakes dance in the sky as they fall down. I reach out with my trunk and touch the ice covered pond, it happened too fast. I can still hear the deafening sound in my ear, the screams of terror. While I studied the snow, I'd been watching intently, and that had been a mistake. I should have seen it coming, it panted with exhaustion and pain. Then I heard it, a painful cry and a sickening sound of flesh being scraped.
I'd turned around and saw a wolf, it's mouth hung slightly open while blood dripped, in a flash he was gone, gone to be never found again. The animal had thrown the lifeless body into the water, the body that once belonged to my joyful daughter, my Peaches.
Now it's getting colder and colder, the wolf will never be caught and I will never rest…
