How to Hunt a Snark

She stalked her prey, stealthily shadowing his movements. Her weapon was at the ready, carefully cupped in gloved hands as she crept forwards. Just a few feet closer, and she could launch her attack. Her prey paused, seemingly sensing her presence, but continued on after a moment, leaving a trail that a blind person could follow. A wolf-like grin formed on her face as she gained ground on her quarry. He stopped again, and she leapt forwards, bringing her weapon to bear.

Her prey flailed as she attacked, trying to deflect her missiles, but the Hunter continued with her onslaught. 'Get away from me!' McKay yelped, struggling to get away. The Hunter ignored him and continued to pelt him with snowballs, a peal of laughter escaping her lips.

'No chance, McKay. Anyways, how can you not have a snowball fight? It's an entire snow planet!' she asked, scooping up more snow and forming it into a compact ball.

'Don't you have something to translate?' McKay asked grumpily, watching her warily. 'Something far, far away from me?'

'Nope! Finished it ten minutes ago. Colonel Sheppard said for me to come and get you, so I did.'

'Doctor Hunter, I don't think Sheppard said for you to pelt me with freezing cold snow!'

Hunter paused for a moment, gently holding the snowball in her gloves. 'Actually, he did. His exact words were "Riley, could you go get McKay? Use force if necessary." You weren't payin' attention, so I used "force" Be glad I didn't whitewash ya.' She threw the snowball and took off running, McKay following hotly after her.

'Hunter, you get back here right now!' McKay yelled. The petite linguist in front of him laughed, and turned her head to look back at him briefly. 'Nope. 'Sides, we have to get back to the 'Gate.'

McKay growled in exasperation and raced after Riley, the circular form of the Stargate rising over the trees of the small forest that held ruins of an abandoned civilisation, as well as a suspected power source that had turned out to have been moved millennia ago. Rodney caught up with Riley at the DHD, where Sheppard and the rest of the team were. The linguist was grinning like a cat, her blue-green eyes sparkling behind the copper frames of her glasses. The wormhole was active, and Sheppard had just finished sending the IDC back to Atlantis.

'Nice to see you could join us, Rodney.' Sheppard said dryly. Rodney glared at him, and then walked through the 'Gate. Riley idly tossed another snowball from hand to hand, and then threw it into the wormhole after McKay, right about head height.

God, she loved tormenting the astrophysicist. She stepped into the wormhole, a bright grin on her face in anticipation of the look on McKay's face once she got back to Atlantis.
