Hey everyone, it's Scorch, obviously, here to present the revamp of my old story, ToS: DF, BP, as the newly titled Tales of Symphonia: Dystopian Escape! As you may or may not know, a dystopia is a place where everything is miserable, bad and whatnot. As such, this title seems appropriate. This is basically the prologue, and I'll also respond to the reviews on the final chapter of my original. Thank you again for reading!

As usual, I own nothing but my ideas.

Prologue: Flight

The red sky, marred only by black clouds, stared down on the meeting between the men below in the wasteland that was once a grassy plain. Now, only a few rotting trees can be seen, along with the men meeting there. The first has brown, nearing black, hair and wears dark clothes and a cloak, which has the hood up, obscuring his face. The second, a man with long, silver hair that reaches to the middle of his shoulder blades, brown pants and a deep blue shirt, under a brown overcoat.

The man in black looks at his companion, and says in a low voice, "This will work, right?"

The silver haired man nodded slightly, before saying, "It has to. If it doesn't, then we don't have any other hope of winning this war."

"This isn't a war," the dark haired man snapped at him, "it's been a slaughter since the beginning, you know that."

"That's why we're here right? To stop this slaughter from happening in the first place?"

"Yeah, that's it. Now, let's get started. The longer we stay here, the better chance they have of finding us."

The silver haired man nodded solemnly, before holding his staff in front of him. As a grey circle of magic appeared below him, he said, "Here goes everything! Temporal Rift!!"

As the circle vanished, the air around the dark haired man began to bend inward, as though drawn by an invisible hook. The dark haired man locked eyes with his companion for what he knew would be the final time, and said, "Gene, try to get out of here as fast as you can. They'll be here any minute, and you'll be easy prey."

The silver haired man, Gene, smirked at the now vanishing figure. "Don't worry about me Lloyd; just make sure that this timeline never exists, okay?"

Before Lloyd could answer though, he was gone.

Gene then turned around to face the wastelands ahead, and more importantly, the figures that were coming towards him at quick pace.

Calling magic around himself, he quickly cast another spell and shouted, "Okay you bastards, come and get some! Black Hole!"

The spell took out some of the enemies, but before he could cast another spell, they were on him.

And that's where I'll stop.

Yeah, I just killed off future Genis, no hard feelings okay?

Thanks for reading this, really. And if anyone reading is a good beta reader, or knows a good one for Tales fics, refer them to me, okay? I need all the help I can get.

Thanks,

Scorch
