Self-Preservation
Everyone knows I swore to become a cop, like my dad. But they don't know all the reasons why I so wanted this career I now have.
Whenever I see a man with a gun, beating a child, or threatening a beautiful young woman's life, I flash back on the injustice Nico did to my parents. I can't bear to see more people drop like flies to the scumbags who lust for more money, more treasure, and more guns.
Being a cop not only saves the people I've sworn to protect. It saves me from seeing myself as another victim.
