Author's Note: Okay... so I know a lot of you are waiting for Chapter 3 of "Loving You is a Bloodsport", however this would not leave my brain so I had to write it so that I could move onto my fanfic. Everyone has their opinions on what happened in 2x15, I personally believe that Lexa will come back in 2x16 so this is my take on how I think she'll come back and what happened to cause her to make the deal.
Let me know what you think of it.. :)

Plans Always Change in Battle
Lexa and a couple of her warriors were up on the ridge fighting to the best of their abilities. Throats were cut, blood gushed out as the light slowly shut off in each of the mountain men's eyes. The battle as far as they could tell was over. There was one lonely man left for them to kill. Lexa being the one that led them here knew she would get the honour to stab her sword through him. Make it known that no one messed with her people.
As she reached him with her long sword drawn, she brought it to his chest and just as she was about to finish the job, he spoke.
"Wait, wait wait…." He put his arms up in defense. "If you kill me, you'll never see your people again." He boasted as he looked to have found an upper hand.
This stopped her; she had wanted this battle to be over with so she could join Clarke and Lincoln in the mountain but in this moment everything changed. This moment went from her being up here to kill the soldiers that were preying on her people to something she never could have imagined.
"What are you talking about?" She pushed as she brought the blade up to his throat wanting to waste no time with interrogating him. He either talked or died.
"If I don't respond on this radio in the next few minutes, my men have orders to kill all of your people in the mountain." He indicated picking up his radio and waving it in front of her.
Lexa didn't know how to respond, she never thought she'd hear this.
"We have a deal for you."
"I'm listening," she cautioned through gritted teeth seething with anger. She wanted to just kill him but on the other hand she needed to be a leader. Her whole goal of all of this was to save her people so she held back her anger.
With the blade still at his throat he responded, "We will give you all of your people that are inside the mountain and stop taking them, if you retreat your army."
Lexa looked him deep in the eyes, blood dripping off of the hand holding her blade, "What happens to the sky people?" She needed to know.
"We keep them. The deal is for your people alone." He looked at his watch. "You have about a minute to decide. Save your people and retreat, or they die and you try and save the 44. The choice is yours commander," He retorted as he could see the commander having an internal argument.
The minute was almost up when Lexa finally spoke again, "Fine, you have a deal!" It was a tough decision but she knew that plans didn't last long in battle. In that minute she thought of a new plan but thought she'd get her people out first.
She moved her sword away from his throat so that he could speak into his walkie-talkie. "Stand down. I repeat stand down on killing the grounders. The deal has been made. Start sending them out."
Lexa couldn't help but to think about that moment again as she sat on her throne chair in her tent. She needed to allow enough time to pass, enough time for the mountain men to believe that she had completely retreated. Her warriors were packing up their tents like she had ordered and most of them were making their way back to their clans. All that was really left were her people, the tree people. She took this time to wipe off some of the dried blood while she waited for Indra and Lincoln to get to her tent.
She had just hoped that Clarke got her message. It wasn't very clear but it was all she could do in such short notice.
Lincoln tumbled into her tent with Indra following close behind. Once he got his baring and stood back up he looked at the commander with a death glare. Whether he would act on it or not was still up in the air but at this very moment he wanted nothing more than to take a knife to her throat and end it. Then he'd be able to go help Clarke and Octavia.
"Commander, I have brought Lincoln here as you requested." She stated as she did not dare question her commander's orders.
"Good. You may grab a couple more warriors as we are going back to help the sky people," Lexa addressed the two standing in front of her.
Lincoln looked at the commander confused, "Commander, may I speak freely?"
"You may."
"Why pull us back, if we were just going to go back? Why not just stay and fight?" He needed to know the answers to these questions.
Lexa wiped her sword one more time leaving it clear of blood, "The terms of the deal were that we got our people back only if we retreated. I needed them to believe we had retreated before we could go back. Which is why, I ordered the other clans to leave."
"Plans never last in battle," Indra stated remembering the words she knew oh so fondly.
The commander nodded in agreement. "I will go ahead and try and get Clarke's attention so she gets away from the door. The two of you will go and find Octavia." Looking directing at Indra, Lexa asked, "Where did you leave her? I did not see her come back with you."
"She's in the reaper tunnels," Indra answered now feeling a little bad for what she had said to Octavia.
"Alright, then you two will meet her there." Lexa ordered. "We should be clear to leave now. If we leave in separate directions we should be able to get to the mountain unnoticed. They will not be expecting us to come back."
Lincoln's faith in the commander was coming back as he gained back all of his strength to fight again.

On her way out of their camp, Lexa grabbed a bow and arrows as she left toward Mount Weather. Ryder, Indra and Lincoln with a couple other warriors went toward the mines while Lexa went in search of Clarke alone. Ryder wanted to accompany her but she made it clear that she was to go alone. She knew she would find Clarke at the door as not much time had passed.
When she got near the tree line, she could see the blue jacket under blonde hair standing not too far from the door. Lexa knew she couldn't get too close for fear of being spotted so she pulled out her bow and arrows. After attaching something to the arrow, she took aim after feeling for any wind and making sure that the arrow would get where she wanted in to land. Once she was sure, she let the arrow shoot from her bow, the wire giving the wooden arrow momentum to fly through the air.
It startled Clarke out of her focus when something busted into the ground not too far behind her. Turning around she looked toward the trees not seeing anything at first. She looked down at the arrow that hit the ground. There was something tied to the arrow that looked familiar.
"What is that?" She whispered to herself. Pulling the arrow out of the ground she brought the object tied to the arrow closer to her face to get a better look at it. Feeling the material she recognized it almost immediately, "Wait a minute. I know whose this is…" She looked to the trees again and thought she may have seen someone just at the tree line. Not wasting time, Clarke made her way to the tree line. She briskly walked, making sure that she didn't run as this might have caused the mountain men to think something was up.
Once at the tree line, she tried to spot whoever was there but the trees were too dark and she couldn't quite make out who it was until she saw them come a little closer. "Lexa…" She barely got the name out as she wasn't sure how she should be feeling in this moment.
Lexa pulled Clarke farther into the wooded area needing to make sure that the mountain men definitely did not see her. It was too early for them to be spotted. Once they were farther into the woods, they came across a bit of a clearing that let the moonlight shine in creating some light for them to see each other.
"Why did you come back?" Clarke asked right away not wasting time.
Lexa finally connected her gaze to Clarke's, "It was always my intention to come back Clarke."
"You chose your people so easily over mine, and now you're back to help, why? Why not say anything? You could have done anything, said anything! Instead you just left!" Clarke was starting to let her emotions take control.
The commander swallowed nervously as she realized her message didn't come across properly to Clarke. "They were watching us. I could not tell you things had changed. As I said plans change in battle. I saw an opportunity to save my people and I took it, I will not apologize for that. You would have done the same." She answered with force. "I was hoping that if I used a saying your people say, maybe you would have known I was coming back but obviously not."
Clarke thought back to that moment and for a second couldn't think of what Lexa was referring to until it hit her, "May we meet again. Seriously, you thought I would catch onto that? You just crushed me, I wasn't thinking about anything after I learned that my people were going to die inside that mountain!" Her anger was boiling. She didn't think she'd get this chance to say any of this.
Lexa watched Clarke get angrier at her, so she decided to calmly respond with, "Clarke, I didn't come alone. Indra, Lincoln and even Ryder are on their way to meet up with Octavia. You and I just need to figure out how to get into the mountain." She reassured Clarke. "You may not believe me and that's fine but I did intend to come back. Without this alliance, without your friendship, we never would have gotten this far. With our two people working together, we will win this war. We'll get your people out." Clarke's face softened a little as she could see the sincerity in Lexa's eyes. "I promise you, I will do everything in my power to help you get your people out."
Clarke didn't know how to respond. A few minutes ago, all she wanted to do was yell and scream at Lexa for abandoning their alliance, for choosing to save the grounders over the 44 but now… She could see how sincere Lexa was in what she said. "You always meant to come back?"
"Yes," Lexa nodded.
Clarke let that sink in and all of a sudden she was feeling better. She couldn't help a little smile appear on her lips, "When we win this war, you and I need to come up with a safe word or phrase or something so that I know what's going on because that back there…" She pointed toward the mountain. "That was not clear."
Lexa nodded again, "If that is what you want."
"That's what I want." Clarke reiterated.
"When we win this war, we will do that. Now do you have any other ideas on how to get in the mountain?" She asked and Clarke just stared at the commander unsure.
THE END
I've been getting a lot of reviews from people waiting to get a new chapter. This is just a one-shot that I needed to write so I could get back to my other fanfic "Loving You is a Bloodsport". Sorry for the confusion...
