A/N: one-shot. spoiler through 9x10. Be kind.

Disclaimer: I don't own them...I just have miniature versions that live inside my head and sometimes I take them out to play. I can't help what they do from there. My mind has a mind of its own.

"Gilbert doesn't play well with other kids."

"The class hamster died today and Gilbert decided to dissect it while the rest of us were at recess."

"Gilbert put that down!"

"Gilbert that is NOT a toy!"

Up to this very minute many of the things Gil Grissom had done in life had seemed wrong to the outside world.

Obviously those outside his mind knew nothing of what made him tick, or what made Harvey the hamster tick for that matter.

He would more than likely continue to do things that seemed unconventional.

He would make mistakes—and try to rectify them.

Sometimes he would be successful, others—not so much.

But in this moment everything was right. He was at peace with himself; in harmony with nature, and deeply in love with the woman in his arms.

Yes, he'd done a lot of things that seemed wrong to the world.

Yesterday he walked away from a job—a life, really—that had been all he'd known for more than a decade.

Wrong to the world.

But it was Shakespeare who said (or rather had Polonius say) "To thine own self, be true."

He was finally listening to his heart-and in doing so was now creating a new life with the beautiful brunette asleep in his arms.

He smiled down at her and placed a delicate kiss on her forehead. "I love you Sara." If life could be this good listening to his heart, he didn't give a rat's ass what the world thought.

end.
