For one of the first times since I was turned into a vampire I, Caroline Forbes, was nervous. I was doing everything I could to distress and cleaning my apartment was the only thing I could think of. I know it sounds insane but it's just my thing. Like how some people read until they cry or twirl their hair or binge watch their favorite TV shows. Well you may ask what has me on edge.

Klaus Mikaelson asked me to go on a date with him. It's been years since I've last seen him and I just moved away from Mystic Falls to Nashville. I never expected to get a call from him especially after he promised to leave me for good. I never realized how much I had wanted to see him until after he suggested it. Now here I am two hours before he was supposed to come get me and I hadn't even started thinking of what to wear.

Leaving my kitchen, I headed to the bathroom and turned on the shower. I looked in the mirror at my freshly dyed auburn hair. By leaving Mystic Falls I needed a change so big that it documented the occasion. So goodbye blonde, predictable Caroline, hello redheaded bombshell. I hopped into the shower and just stood there trying to relax under the warm water.

None of my doubts kept leaving my mind. I was still burdened by everything I'd left behind in Mystic Falls. Elena and Bonnie promised to keep an eye out for my mom while I was away and Stefan decided to come with me. It's been nearly three years and he still isn't over Elena. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving him there to wallow in his own sorrows.

I heard the bathroom door open and I sighed. "Stefan it would nice if you knocked before you came in. We're friends and everything but a girl needs her privacy."

"Oh well, love, I hoped you wouldn't mind my intrusion." I knew that voice and accent anywhere. It was Klaus and I nearly fell over trying to grab my towel. And vampire grace be damned I tripped over the shower curtain, at least I had my towel secure around my body. Klaus instantly reached out and caught me, a look of amusement playing upon his face then his expression fell as he took me in.

I cleared my throat and he put me to my feet.

"What did you do to your hair?" He couldn't take his eyes off of my hair. He was reached out to touch my still damp hair.

"Oh come on Klaus. I know you're old but you can't be so old as to not have heard of hair dye." I said trying to sound more confident than I felt. "Now if you will excuse me I need to get ready."

I hurriedly pushed him out of the bathroom and closed the door.
