Disclaimer: As always not mine, though I wish I own the lovely Pip, and maybe Merry.
A/N: This is my first Merry/Estella fic, so be kind to me!

They had been married for almost six months now. Every night they would lay side-by-side as husband and wife and almost every other night they would take advantage of being married and sharing the same bed.
Six months of that and nothing. No baby. Month after month and no baby.
He knew how much it was upsetting her, seeing Sam and Rosie with their children. Often she would watch the Gamgee children when their parents wanted a small night off, and when she would come home, she would be in tears.
"I want a child, Merry," she quietly said. He placed his book down and coaxed her to the bed.
"I know you do," he replied in the same tone. "I want one as well."
"What's wrong with me, Merry?" she cried. "We've been married for six months and nothing."
"Estella..." he tried. He didn't know what to say. He knew how much it pained her. She would make a wonderful mother and he would love to sit in front of the fire place with a son or daughter on his knee and maybe another in her lap.
"What scares me..." she sniffled. "Is maybe I cannot have children."
"Don't say that 'Stella," he begged. "Please."
"What else could it be Merry? We've tried, almost every night and..." she didn't finish her sentence but cried in his arms.
"I'm sorry," was all he could muster. He lightly kissed the top of her head and ran a finger through her soft curls. "I'm so sorry."

They had been married for almost four years now. Every night they would lay side-by-side as husband and wife and almost every other night they would take advantage of being married and sharing the same bed.
It was an average night at the Green Dragon. Pippin was sitting with Diamond, (who was in the early stages of expecting) boasting the news that he was going to be a father. He would be drunk my the time the night was through. Rosie was behind the bar, cleaning some mugs, while Sam was at home with the children. Merry sat at the same table as his cousin and joined the Tooks in a toast.
Estella came over with a tray of freshly poured mugs for the costumers. "Congratulations Pippin." She told. She handed a mug to the father-to-be. Diamond only smiled. "You too Diamond."
"Tell me!" Fatty asked. "Why don't you and yours have any little Brandybucks?"
"I've told you before Fatty!" she laughed. "I don't want any children. I am perfectly happy with my husband in our home. I have no need for a child." She cleared the tray and walked back to the bar.
Merry watched his wife in sadness. She made up the lie of not wanting children after a year of trying with no success. She put on a happy face and joked about not wanting any, but sometimes at night she still cried.
"To the new Took!" Fatty raised his glass. "May he be as beautiful as his mother, and smarter than his father!" the bar laughed and everyone clinked glasses.
Merry took a sip and caught eyes with Estella across the room. She forced a weak smile, and went back to serving glasses.
