He gazed into her eyes. "Van!" she cried. Clinging on to the broken floor, a gapping hole that seemed to never end waiting to devour her loomed below her dangling feet. "Van! Go! Save her! She's falling..." Tears filled his eyes, "What about you??" He screamed. "I can't just leave you here; quick give me your hand!" He reached out, pushing himself as far as he could go. He was just about ready to open up his wings.
"No! Go save her! I'll be all right, Van! I promise." she lied. His eyes were red; he didn't know what to do. He loved them both. "VAN!! GO!!" she screamed. He jumped up and blew her a kiss. "Be safe, Candy Cane." He yelled as he flew toward the body that was already falling.
Struggling, she clung on to the cliff that had been made when the ground had begun to shake so violently just moments ago. She sobbed, tears streaking the dirt down her face.
"I'm so sorry, Bon-Bon." she sobbed. "I love you so much. But we're just not meant to be." She gazed down into the jet black pit. "It's better this way." Closing her eyes, she let go.
Falling. Falling. Falling.
By the time Van saw her, it was too late. "Candy Cane!" he screamed. But she had hit the ground with a "CRACK" that echo throughout the cavern. He flew down to her, placing the other girl on the ground. Van ran to the motionless body. Carefully picking her up in his arms, he let out a sob. Pulling her close, he could feel the blood drip from her head. The soft places where her skull used to be in tacked. Other than the blood, she looked fine. From the front, completely unharmed.
"You said everything would be alright." He buried his face in her neck. "You said you'd be ok." Her head just lolled back in reply.
