Hey guys! It's me, Jesspikapal, but of course, you probably already knew that. :)

Anyways, here I am with the promised CHAPTER story for ChilixRuby. But let me explain how this will work. Whenever I need a little break from "The Locket" (Which is on chappie 10 now :D), I will update this one. However, it won't be like a continuious chapter story; the chapters will be in no way linked. At All! But they WILL be influenced by music. But they're not Song-fics. :)

Ok, so the first thing I'm going to write for this pairing is: Peacful Outing. (Inspired by Honey and the Bee by Owl City :3)

Oh, and there will be Wishfulshipping in this aswell. :) Hopefully, not only will it make the story more believeable, but it will also make more people read it too! ;D And it's fun to write Wishful as well as ChilixRuby. Say, if anyone has a ship name at all, feel free to say it if you choose to review! :)

Enjoy!~

Ah, the peaceful atmosphere of Striaton Gym on a morning...

"Chili! Get up! Now!" Ruby screamed, leaping onto his bed and yanking his hair roughly. He yelped and jumped out of bed, his body covered by long red pyjamas. He yawned and then stretched, his back cracking sharply and Ruby couldn't help but wince.

"Gee, thanks for waking me in such a friendly fashion, Ruby." Chili mumbled, scratching his head and then his side, his eyes still fighting to stay open. He felt groggy and tired, but he'd never really been a morning person. Well, unless there was a gym challenge. Then he was "up and at 'em!" before anyone else was!

"You're welcome Chili!" She replied with fake happiness. "Besides, Cress and Cilan and his little girly-friend have already been in here to wake you up at least three times each. So I thought, being the smart girl that I am, I'd come in here just the one time and you'd be up and ready to go before any of the others could even blink!" Ruby boasted sarcastically, sneaking a sly glance at Chili through half-lidded eyes. He didn't look very impressed but she didn't really care. He was up now and that was all that mattered. Suddenly, something seemed to click in Chili's half asleep mind.

"Where's Pansear?" Chili questioned, looking around his room frantically in a panicked state.

"Chili?"

"-He's run away! I'll never get him b-"

"Chili?" Ruby tried again, louder this time, but all to no avail.

"And he'll be lost forever and all because I'm such a bad trainer! I should be asham-"

"Chili!" Ruby yelled over his inseasant babbling, grabbing his shoulders tightly and shaking him, which made him stop talking and simply stare at her with wide eyes.

"Pansear was up and ready ages ago. He's downstairs waiting for you, you doofus!" Ruby laughed, amused by Chili's current stupidity. Chili blinked and breathed out a breath that he wasn't aware he'd been holding and then looked at Ruby with now startled eyes.

"Why would you do that to me?" He complained, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Hey, Pansear got up by himself! Don't forget that he's not a lazy as you are." Ruby commented, still gripping his tense shoulders with her petite yet powerful hands.

"Yeah, yeah sure, you can let go of me now." Chili frowned, rolling his eyes. Ruby averted her gaze to the window and cleared her throat, pulling slightly at her bandana around her neck with one hand, before she let go of his shoulders completely and edged carefully away from him. A moment of silence passed by as Ruby just stared away from him and Chili stared at her curiously, before she whipped around and threw something at him.

"Thanks." He smiled slightly, looking down at his clean shirt that was hanging limply in his stiff hands, the cuff tickling his leg slightly through the thin material of his pyjamas.

"You're welcome!" Ruby grinned.

Then without warning, he just began to undress, taking off his shirt in one swift movement, a slight smirk on his face as he did so. Ruby's eyes widened and then she covered them, trying to both shelter her bright blue orbs from such a sight and feel her way out of the room. She simply stumbled clumsily.

"You couldn't have just asked me to leave could you?" Ruby gagged, tripping over one of Chili's pointy shoes and landing in a messy heap on his bedroom floor, the soft carpet somewhat cushioning her fall, though her knees suffered from minor carpet burns. Once she was sure that she had her back to him and couldn't see his front, she cautiously peeked out and then scuttled speedily out of the room, sprinting down the stairs and in all that time that passed, Chili only managed to watch in silent amusement and blink twice. Stifling a laugh, he shook his head with a smile on his face; Ruby sure was a weird girl.

Just as Chili was pulling his shoes on, he heard a loud crash that sounded alot like glass smashing from downstairs and he frowned.

"Lets go see what she's done now..." Chili murmured to himself, standing up, slipping his shoes on properly and brushing himself off self-conciously. Then, walking from the room, he closed the door and then jumped down the stairs, two at a time. Another crash and he placed his hands over his ears, grimacing conspicuously. When the noise had died down, he took a deep breath and pushed the door open, striding quickly through the kitchen and into the main restauraunt, only to find shards of glass everywhere around the table where a picnic basket lay patiently.

Being careful to dodge around the harmful substance that was currently littering the lush carpet of the dining room, Chili made his way around to the table to find Ruby kneeling down and petting her Snivy. Putting his hands on his hips, Chili raised an eyebrow and cleared his throat loudly, which made Ruby slowly turn to face him and then wear a guilty grin on her face.

"Jaden did it." She said, pointing hurriedly at her Snivy who was shouting his name at the top of his voice as if in protest. As if anyone would understand him besides Ruby and Chili knew that she sure wasn't going to translate something that Snivy said if it was going to counter her argument!

"Ok, so I dropped a couple of things. But it was all for good because look in there now." Ruby smiled sheepishly, shrugging her shoulders and then pointing at the tidy-looking hamper insistently. Chili glanced between Ruby and the basket and then inched it open cautiously only to find...

Everything in place.

"Wow." He breathed and then held looked at Ruby and cocked a sarcastic grin. "I'm impressed."

"So am I!" Ruby agreed quickly, standing up and dusting herself off, before she scooped up Jaden and held him close to her stomach.

"So, where is Cilan?" Chili questioned, folding his arms behind his back but not before adjusting his bowtie slightly from all of his jumping down the stairs "exercise". He then waited patiently for Ruby to say something, whilst listening to the strange silence of the normally packed restauraunt. Also, Chili couldn't help but notice that the absence of Ruby's shouting and experiments (usually consisting of banging pans and spoons together) also made the room seem empty and abandoned. He frowned to himself quietly, not liking this new found realisation.

"Uh, upstairs I do believe." Ruby replied, looking unsure. The red haired waiter raised his eyebrows quizzically.

"Well, aren't you going to go and get him?" Chili decided to get straight to the point and simply risk getting hit or sarcastically spanked.

"Nope. I was kinda hoping that you would?" She said sweetly, looking up to the ceiling and observing some patterns on the roof. Chili rolled his eyes and smirked a smirk so smirk-ish that it should have been criminal. He allowed a minute chuckle to pass his lips.

"And whys that?" His hands folded as he posed the question to her. Teasing aside, he actually felt quite curious. Why didn't she want to go and why was she so hesitant to tell him?

"B-Because, you're a... Guy?" She stumbled, trying to excuse herself but ultimately failing and she just settled for looking at her feet instead. Really, she just didn't want to know what they were doing "up there"!

"Kinda contradictory of you to say really. You're always telling me I'm a pansy in a suit." He grinned, deciding to have a little bit of fun with her. It had been a while since he'd teased her. In fact, the furthest back he could remember was with the strawberries, which was at least two weeks ago.

"Yeah, well, opinions change." Ruby mumbled, clearly embarrassed. Her Snivy was also begining to smirk, glancing between the two with a sneaky glint in his eyes. He closed them a second later and simply smiled to himself, listening to the two rivals converse, although Jaden wasn't even sure if that was the right word to use. By the rate that Ruby talked about Chili, even if it was just critism, he'd say that she actually, kind of, sort of liked him. Too bad Ruby, more than often, underestimated her trusy companions intelligence.

"Oh they do, do they?" Chili's grin turning slightly more flirtatious and sly. He turned to look at her, the look that he was giving her making her freeze in her tracks and her pathetic stuttering ceased to nothing more than a mere drizzle of incoherent murmurs. "Does that mean that you see me as a "toughie" now?" He continued to wind her up and tease her. She stared at him for a moment, before taking a breath and then adopted a bored coutenance.

"Sure, I see you as a toughie if you're not all that fussed about going upstairs for me." Ruby returned, though she seemed much more confident when she was out of the way of Chili's gaze. The smug expression immediately fell from his face and he sighed outwardly. Then glaring at her briefly, he breathed out:

"Fine." With that, he sprinted to the stairs and climbed up them - again - and knocked on Cilan's door politely.

"Tell 'em it's ready when they are!" He heard her shout up to him. He groaned and rubbed his temples, trying to relax himself.

"Hmm?" He heard and he pushed the door handle down, closed his eyes and edged his way in. Afterall, he knew that Iris was here and he certainly didn't want a repeat of last time he walked in all too confidently! Peeking through his half-shut eyes, he scanned the room quickly. Then noting that Iris was sat on his bed reading and Cilan was at his desk, he breathed a sharp sigh of relief and walked in fully, closing the door behind him.

"Ruby's downstairs. She says that we're all set for the picnic if you guys are ready to go?" Chili stated.

"Oh, most delightful! Iris, are you coming?" Cilan answered and then turned to Iris with a happy smile etched into his pale face.

"Sure! It'll be fun - especially if you two are coming with us, Chili." Iris smiled up at the redhead.

"What, me and Ruby?" He asked.

"Well, yes, duh!" Iris mock-teased, tapping her head with her index finger. "Besides, maybe you two will get closer over this picnic. What do you think Cilan?" She reasoned with the red-eyed waiter, before turning to her boyfriend with a loving vibe in her big, brown eyes.

"Well, I say yes. I mean, Chili, we all know that you two are rather compatible. Even Cress noticed!" Cilan laughed and soon enough, Chili's hair, bowtie and eyes weren't the only things that were a nice shade of red as a large streak of rouge made it's way across his face. He tugged on his bowtie subconciously as he chuckled bashfully as Pansear laughed at him non-too-quietly.

"Guys, me and Ruby are just friends." He stated apprehensively, another chuckle coming from his mouth as he spoke. Cilan raised his eyebrows in disbelief, but Iris was the next to speak.

"I thought you said that you two were rivals?" She smugly retorted, smirking at Chili with hooded eyes, her Axew chortling with laughter.

"Whatever! Rivals, friends, lovers. It's all the same!" Chili irately retorted, throwing his arms in the air for emphasis. Pansear shook his head. "And you can be quiet too." Chili said in a warning tone, pointing at the little red fire monkey, who only shrugged and jumped onto the bed with Iris, nuzzling her leg as he silently craved for some other attention. Iris complied willingly, stroking him behind his ears and atop his furry head.

"So basically you're saying that you and Ruby could be lovers because you're rivals, which is the equivalent?" Cilan asked, taking his turn to tease his brother. Ah, revenge was sweet!

"Ugh! I'll be downstairs. If you're coming, we're leaving in two minutes." Chili grumbled, closing the door on the laughing duo a little harsher than necessary. He raced down the stairs with practiced perfection and made his way back into the dining room, only to see Ruby snoring quietly on a chair.

Had he honestly been that long? Or did she just fall asleep in the blink of an eye? Well, no one would ever know when it came to Ruby! Nontheless, he smirked and went around to the back of the chair, orginally to tip it and make her wake up to a suprise (though he would never let her fall), just like he had this morning, but as he got to the back of her chair, something caught his attention; her hair.

Her vibrant red tresses that were so full of energy were still alive as she slept. As if by some compelling force, Chili reached out and brushed a soft strand out of her eyes, tucking it neatly behind her ear with a serene smile imprinted lightly onto his face. He watched her breathe and her legs twitch whenever Jaden's unusually large leaf brushed her in any way. Chili noticed how... Cute she looked when she slept; so innocent and so peaceful, when really, she was rather blunt and sarcastic at heart. He suddenly felt the urge to touch it again and did so gently, but was instantly interrupted when he felt her stir beneath his feather-light fingertips, which made him hiss quietly under his breath.

Wrenching his hands away from her, he watched as she blinked slowly and then looked around the room, her eyes still adjusting to the light in the large restauraunt.

"Afternoon, Princess." Chili snidely remarked. However, as sleepy as she looked, Ruby was still as sharp as a pin.

"Afternoon, St. NoFunAlot" She replied with a tired sneer. Then, rubbing her eyes, she leaped out of her chair and folded her arms across her chest. A yawn followed shortly after and she then stretched her asleep mucsles.

"You took your damn time, toughie." She proceeded to mock, narrowing her eyes at him.

"Sure did. Now, are you ready to go?" Chili said with an innocent smile, reminding him of Ruby's sleeping form for a brief moment until he shook his head violently and then just stared at her with a blank face.

"Mhmm." And as soon as she confirmed it, the pair of them heard bounding feet approaching down the stairs.

"Here comes the Wild-Child and the Lovestruck Connoisseur." Ruby mumured. Unbeknownst to her, Chili nodded remotely in silent agreement. Pansear emerged from the stairs first and ran to his trainer, who accepted him with open arms. Sat in his perch, Pansear yipped and rubbed his trainers head affectionately.

"Aww, someone besides your brother likes you!" Ruby teased, clapping her hands and Chili made a childish face at her, which she instantly returned, before they both folded their arms across their chests and faced opposite ways from each other, their backs brushing against each others in defiance.

"Family fued?" Iris quizzed teasingly, averting her eyes between the pair of angry redheads. Cilan stood beside her and wrapped his arm around her waist, bringing her closer to him.

"You two, it's not hard. Just tell each other you're sorry." Cilan reasoned with a grin.

The both of them peered at him as if he was stupid and he immediately shrunk away, though Iris stood her ground against them. Chili, noticing this, decided to change the subject hurriedly before Iris began her annoying teasing all over again.

"Ready?"

"Yep!" The other three chorused, like a classful of obedient school children. Iris grabbed the picnic basket readily with a wide smile.

"Then lets go!" Chili chided happily, running over to the doors and pushing one of them open, the heavy wood resisting slightly in the palm of Chili's hand. The other three cheered and walked in an ordely fashion until they got to the door and then both Ruby and Iris tryed to scramble out at once, only to result in getting stuck in the doorframe. Chili and Cilan alike both burst out laughing but Cilan was hushed almost momentairaly by Iris' stern face. He cleared his throat and gave her a gentle push, which made the pair of stuck girls stumble forwards and onto the open streets of Striaton.

"So where are we having this picnic then?" Iris asked, swinging the hamper slightly. This made Ruby fuss.

"Don't do that! There's food in there!" Ruby seethed, peering up at Iris with big, blue eyes.

"So?" Iris said uncooperatively, silently hopeing that Chili would step in. However, he seemed engrossed in the conversing that was happening between the two, rather than busy thinking of ways to come to Ruby's defence. Not that she needed it anyways.

"Because there's food in there!" Ruby repeated and Chili chuckled to himself, though Cilan heard and a big smile appeared on his face. The day was pleasantly hot yet cloudy but the warm rays of the afternoon sun managed to peek through the invasive clouds that dotted themselves lazily around the sky. Whenever girls that were passing by down the street saw the Gym Leaders, they would squeal and wave at them and although Chili loved the attention and Cilan was embarrassed, Ruby did not look pleased. Iris saw this and beamed smugly to herself in silent recognition but chose to hold her tounge for now. The four of them eventually arrived at a small, grassy area that was just before the park and sat down happily.

"Ok," Ruby smiled. "This is how it's going to work. Iris and Cilan, you are going to set the rug out and Chili, you are going to help me set everything out, even though you'll probably be doing most of it anyway. Any questions?" Ruby asked with an innocent facade, even blinking her eyes cutely for good measures!

"Yes!" Chili immediatley interrupted the silence. "Why will I be doing most of the work?" He demanded, apparently angry by Ruby's previous order. "What wrong with me?" He groaned to himself, not knowing why he allowed himself to take so much of a beating from Ruby and her snide remarks.

"Don't ask that Chili. We'll be here all day! Now, anyone with an intelligent question?" She continued, which made Chili growl slightly but she simply ignored him and he gave up with a sigh.

"No? Good! Then lets go!" Ruby smiled and everyone began to move around busily.

"Do you think that they'd work together Cilan?" Iris whispered in his ear and a tingle flew down his spine upon hearing his girlfriends voice so close to him. Cilan stopped what he was doing and looked at her with a sincere smile.

"I do, Iris. With Chili's tempormental flavour and Ruby's sarcastic aroma, they'd weigh each other out. There's no doubt that they would work together more than nicely. The only ones that don't see it that way, is those two that the situation concerns." Cilan answered, pointing at the pair of redheads who were both busy arranging the various foods, despite what Ruby had said earlier. They also seemed to be pretty happy aswell; content with nothing but the company of the other.

"I hope that they'll realise it soon!" Iris murmured to him, before placing a tender kiss to his lips. He responded and wrapped a single arm around her waist before they broke apart, smiled at each other and started their job again, working together to get the picnic rug nice and straight.

When they were all pretty much finished, Ruby made Chili get the last of the cutlery out as she put the last of the food onto the rug, before she sat with her legs crossed, waiting for Chili to finish aswell.

"What's taking you so long doofus?" Ruby asked with sigh, flicking him in the back, which he instantly replied to with a low "Ow..."

"Well, y'see Ruby, Doofus here, can't find any forks or knives." Chili retorted sarcastically, emphasising his "nickname" with venom and a cocky raise of the eyebrows. Ruby glared at him and then shoved him out of the way, muttering "I'm sure I put them in here somewhere." while delving her head into the basket. Chili picked himself up, adjusted his bowtie and then crossed his arms with a smug smile on his lips as he waited for Ruby to come out of the hamper, defeated and ashamed. Soon enough, she popped up with a guilty smile on her face (for the second time that day!) and Jaden tutted at her from her shoulder.

"Ok, so there's no cutlery. Oh well, we all have fingers, hmm?" Ruby quizzed and received relieved expressions in return for her apparent quick thinking. Everyone, including the once angry Chili, smiled large, unmistakable smiles and all went to pick the food they wanted: Iris picked an apple, Cilan picked a slice of delicate cake that was smeared in a honey-like substance and Chili and Ruby both settled for sandwiches with nothing more than a passive shrug between them. All ate in friendly silence. Ruby grabbed a bottle of strawberry flavoured water and put it in Chili's lap.

"Yours." She smiled.

"Mine." He replied, mimicking her warm, slightly jokey grin. He could see that she still found the strawberry incident funny and if he was completely honest with himself, he knew that he cracked a smile whenever someone mentioned the word!

Iris finished first and started talking to Cilan, who returned her conversation and simply blanked the other two out obliviously. Ruby listened to them natter; not the words that they were saying, but just the general flow of the chat between them.

"What, wishing you were Iris?" Chili teased with a grin when he noticed her placid expression.

"Nah, you're better than Cilan." Ruby absentmindedly replied with a small, secretive smile. Baffled by the rare compliment, Chili simply took her hand gently and gave it a squeeze.

"Thanks." He smiled, moving to sit next to her, their fingers still entwined. Ruby's eyes went wide for a split second, before she calmed herself and closed them, composing her body momentairaly and releasing a sigh.

"Don't look so proud of yourself. It's not all that hard to be more exciting than Cilan, y'know." She said with a sudden smirk as her sharp eyes opened to peer at him intensely.

"I'll remember that." He smirked back. "For your sake of course!" He joked, giving her a wink. She rolled her eyes, but still had a small smile on her face.

"You didn't pack that much. Knew you wouldn't be all that hungry?" Chili enquired inquisitively.

"Well no, more like there are only four of us here so we honestly don't need all that much. There's still some cake if you want something else?" She offered, throwing a look in the general direction of the plate of cake. The red-eyed waiter shook his head.

"No thanks. Say, do you -"

"I wish Cress was here." Ruby suddenly commented. Shocked, Chili blinked and tried to take the information in. What on earth...? She hated him! In fact, Chili knew that if he had asked about her statement about almost everyone being more interesting than Cilan, she would have said that the two people who weren't were Cress and Santa Claus. He could guarentee it! So what was this then?

"Why the sudden fondness?" Chili questioned wearily, being careful to tread his ground wisely.

"Oh no. Not fondness at all." She smiled and then pointed to Iris' discarded apple core. "I just really wanted to throw that at his head..."

Completed! :D

Note: They won't all be as long as this, but this one was more of a fun one, but I did try to include a little bit of senseless fluff. :3 Hopefully, you enjoyed it because I worked my butt off on this! Second chapter will be up soon, but I can't make any promises, because I've still got "The Locket" to take care of, which I recommend if you fancy a read anytime soon! :)

Anyways, thanks to anyone who reviews and I apoligize for any mistakes. Can't wait to get this keyboard fixed! :D
