Sam woke up the next morning with only a seconds fear that he may be alone. That was when he realized he wasn't. Cas was with him now and together they would find Gadreel and bring him down. They didn't need Dean, although sometimes the angel would hint at the fact he missed him. Sam tried to ignore the man's cute puppy eyes because they usually worked on him. Only yesterday had Castiel convinced him not to go and kill himself for the sake of Gadreel's fall. The point was that all the time the three of them, Dean, Cas, and Sam had been together, he had always felt jealous that Cas and Dean had more of a profound bond than Sam and Cas. Maybe he was just jealous that his brother got an angel and he didn't. He hated thinking like that though. It made Castiel seem like a pet rather than a being.
Anyhow, Sam got out of bed and slipped on some normal clothes. He was always excited to see Castiel in the morning rather than just an empty room, like when Dean normally left. Sam still hadn't asked Cas why he had stayed with him instead of going with Dean.
Sam trotted down the stairs. He couldn't see Castiel anywhere. Perhaps he had gone out. Cas didn't usually go out in the morning. He would wait until Sam had gotten up and would check with him to see if it was okay to go do something. Sam would always reluctantly agree, afraid that he would bring Dean back. Sam shook his head. What a silly person he was. Cas was an angel and a grown man he could do what he wants. About an hour after Sam had breakfast Castiel appeared in the living room holding a store bag.
Sam jumped when he saw him, "Hey...you went shopping?"
Cas shrugged, "I was bored. It was something to do. I bought some movies if you want to watch them later."
Sam laughed, "Cas, no one like to watch movies by themselves." Cas narrowed his eyes, "I'll watch them with you if you want."
"That's sweet Cas, but we have work to do."
"Sam," Cas started, "I am trying to take on Dean's role right now and that is taking care of you. Now we can't hunt for Gadreel all day or we'll both go crazy. We deserve a little time off even if it's time for one movie."
Sam laughed softly. Castiel always had a way of persuading you in the most advanced dialect. "What do you have?" Sam asked walking over. Cas unloaded the bag onto a table and laid the movies out, "I got seven movies since I'm not sure what genre you like."
"I like all genre's Cas don't worry about it," Sam smiled.
Cas nodded, "Anyhow. I've watched none of these movies. I got The Shining, Gravity, Frozen, 101 Dalmations, The Hobbit, Karla (ehehehehe), and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows."
Sam nodded, "Good movies Cas, how about the Hobbit? I loved the Lord of the Rings when I was younger."
Cas nodded, "Sure. When do you want to watch it?"
"How about 6:00pm later when we are done searching for Gadreel for the day?"
"Sounds fine."
Sam took his now cooked popcorn out of the microwave. He was glad he was doing something remotely human with his friend. Cas was already curled up on the couch on the right side. Sam sat on the left. Earlier he had forced Cas to get into some of Dean's old pajama's because he new they were more comfortable to wear while watching a movie than some old trench coat. Cas turned on the movie and it started.
Castiel was actually a very good person to watch a movie with. He didn't talk during it like Dean, and he laughed at the parts Sam laughed at. When the movie was over Sam headed to bed. Cas smiled and disappeared for a moment before reappearing in a trench coat. He shut the credits off and headed towards the library to read a book.
Just outside their window Dean watched.
