This is just a small drabble while I think of a name for the actual fic... *sigh* ... altough I doubt anyone would read it...

Sound

"Honestly..." Rio sighed as she carefully balanced the multiple bags she had to carry home by herself. "... those boys can eat for a whole army!"

She then stopped and chuckled.

"But I wouldn't really have them any other way... even Vector started to open up..."

Her musings were stopped by what sounded like crying, causing her to look around confused. Why was she doing that? It was about to rain soon (if the clouds were anything to judge by) and maybe whoever was making that noise... oh, who was she kidding? Rio wasn't the kind of person who would leave someone to cry in an upcoming rainstorm. Frowning, the bluenette soon realized that it came from the nearby alley. She and alleys didn't really have a great history but if she could potentially give someone shelter for the night... indeed, she would then call the police in the morning.

Nodding to herself, the now 15-year-old cautiously walked over to the dark area and poked her head in.

"Hello? Anyone here?" she asked. "... please come out, I can help you."

The sniffing didn't stop for a moment before the figure came out from the shadows, rubbing her tears away. Rio had to drop the bags, stunned into silence. The little girl (for now she could clearly see that it was one) looked almost exactly like her, down to the hair style. The major differences were the sea blue eyes and forest green hair as well as the clothes (which looked more like rags) she wore.

"M-Miss? C-Can you really h-help m-me?"

The question caused Rio to snap out of her fear that this was probably a joke Don Thousand somehow played on her and carefully stepped forward, reaching out with her hand and a small smile.

"Yes, I can. What is your name?"

"Iris, m-miss..." the little girl replied, quite politely. The cogwheels in Rio's brain began to work, trying to remember where she heard that name before. Yes, her brother had mentioned it after they... she quickly stopped thinking about that. That little girl was dead, according to his words. So how could she be...? As she thought, rain began to trickle down on them, causing Iris to shiver. Now wasn't the time to think about this. She would take the little girl back to the mansion and have Ryoga clarify the situation but, if she was right and this girl was the one her brother had befriended, then the Numeron Code truly worked in strange ways. Grinning now, Rio took her small hand.

"Come on, I have someone that I think you'd like to meet."

Any opinion would be nice. Thank you for reading :)
