Wanda shows up when Steve needs her the most. Civil War spoilers. Scarlet America. One-shot.
Steve: "I'm sorry, Nat. You know I can't sign."
Natasha: "I know. C'mere."
She pulled the super soldier into a hug. She wanted to be friends with Steve. If she could, she would be his sister. But not his boyfriend. She knew that he didn't have romantic feelings for her, and that was for the better. She had met up with the future king of Wakanda, T'Challa, and she was beginning to develop feelings for him. If Laura Barton never existed, she would be kissy-kissy with Clint. He did show up for the funeral. As did Scott Lang, whom Cap had become good friends with, and he even spilled his secret by accident. Cap returned with his secret. It was a win-win. But not even Sam Wilson, nor Natasha Romanoff could reassure Steve that everything would be okay. He needed someone else. Someone he could tell anything. But Natasha invited that special person, whom she knew Steve had feelings for. If this didn't work, Steve would never be in love again. Who is that special person you ask?
Her name is Wanda Django Maximoff.
Natasha didn't leave, but she stayed in a spot out of sight with Sam, Scott, and Clint.
Steve heard heels hitting the carpeted floor. They weren't Natasha's. They were Wanda's. He felt his face start to lighten up after he saw the Scarlet Witch walking his way. Wanda was an utter piece of beauty in his eyes. She was locked away with Vision, thanks to none other than Tony Stark. She wasn't even allowed to go grocery shopping. It was like he was an over-attached husband who had never let his wife out of a 10 foot reach. That was starting to be something Wanda had gotten tired of. She wanted to be with the man she truly had feelings for. That man wan NOT Vision. That man Was Steven Grant Rogers. Most would refer to him as Captain America.
Wanda: "Hey."
Steve: "Hey." They both had sad smiles on their faces as she took a seat beside him on the pew.
Wanda: "You can talk to me Steve. Tell me who that 'Sharon' girl is first." Wanda couldn't help noticing a small chuckle that she got out of Steve.
Steve: "Well, I think she has a thing for me, but I don't feel the same about her."
Wanda: "Oh, is that so, Mr. Rogers?" She let out a little giggle, which Steve found extremely cute.
Steve: "Yeah. Thing is, I have feelings for this girl who adores the color red. She can't come out much because she has this purple skinned guy watching her 24/7 like an over obsessed husband." Wanda laughed into Steve's shoulder. She was NEVER going to date Vision. The only person she would ever date was Steve. It was only now they noticed their fingers had become connected with each other's.
Wanda: "Well, we should get going. It's almost 2:00."
Steve: "You aren't going to sign, are you?"
Wanda: "Give me an opportunity to talk with the most handsome man on earth, then you expect me to do that? I'm sorry, but what do we have to sign?"
Steve: "For starters, my heart." He smiled, then picked up Wanda bridal-fashion style.
Wanda: "Ooh!" She smiled and nuzzled her head into Steve's shoulder.
They set out for the door, when they noticed Scott walking over.
Scott: "Well, might as well get the door for the new lovebirds, right?"
Steve and Wanda smiled at Scott, and the three walked out, with Sam and Clint following close by. Natasha was out last, but as she left, she let these words out,
Natasha: "If Cap can find true love, maybe T'Challa has time for lunch later."
