"Pieces solving a puzzle.." Hive trailed off.
Daisy turned and looked at his suddenly frozen form. She wasn't expecting him to be stood behind her on the quinjet but now she was holding out, waiting for him to attack her. He wasn't moving.
"I'm not a good man Skye." He continued.
Daisy sat frozen. She was speechless. While under Hives control she never truly experienced Ward but now he was back and stronger than ever by the looks of it.
"What...what are you doing?" She stuttered and stood up cautiously. "This is more than just possessing the hosts memories." She thought out loud but stayed put.
"Skye.." She could see the former Shield agent's hand shaking at a fast pace. "You need to get off here...lock the coordinates in and I'll go up with it." The softer yet strained tone of Grant Ward's voice came through.
Daisy gasped at this and didn't bother to correct him on her name, he wasn't speaking so mechanically anymore. Was this Ward?
"What? No. Hive...Ward whoever I'm speaking to now. I'm not sending you off, it's exactly what that thing wanted." She pointed out bluntly but carefully took a step forward.
"Which is why I'm asking you to lock them in and go back to your team. I can't change them from here, I'll have no choice but to follow the course you set."
"Ward.." She whispered, this was definitely him. Hive wouldn't suddenly give in and sacrifice himself. "We can get you back, we can find a way to help you through all of this.." She whispered, her eyes getting watery at the thought of him suddenly being gone. She was supposed to hate him.
"We both know I'm beyond that and the blame's all on me. Just let me do this one last thing for you." He gasped as he continued to try keep control over his body but the parasite was fighting him.
Daisy took a step closer but he just took a step back. "Please...I can't stop it for long." He whispered brokenly to her. "Once he's back I won't be able to stop it."
Daisy nodded and bit her lip hard to keep her emotions at bay. She shouldn't be feeling this or anything for him but he was back and saving her again. She turned and walked towards the side panel, using the override code Coulson, May and her knew before selecting the location and coordinates as steadily as she could before locking it.
She took a moment and swallowed hard before turning back to him. "Thank you." She whispered. "I'll make sure the team knows what you did, Robot." She smiled sadly at him.
"I'll see you when I see you, Rookie." He nodded and clenched his fists.
She hesitated before pressing the button to shut the hatch, getting off while it was still low.
The door clicked shut and she made her way up to her team where she was met with confused and frustrated faces.
"You let it go with the missile onboard?" May asked her sternly, checking she'd seen everything correctly.
Daisy shook her head and smiled sadly. "Ward broke through. He saved us." She whispered as she watched the small blip on the screen leave the atmosphere.
There's probably mistakes but I've only been able to watch the episode once. I wanted a scene like this to happen but obviously knew it wouldn't happen so…
I'm still emotional and bitter from last nights episode but this came to mind!
