Chapter 1
I was a troubled kid. My parents divorced when I was young, then a couple years later there was a new man in my life. With this new man came a new sister. Jenna. She was a year younger than me. She was very fond of me. Not the kind of feelings a sister should have towards a brother. She would force me to do stuff with her. Stuff that I thought was wrong and didn't want to do. She had told me that if I didn't do these things then she would tell their parents that I was the one to come on to her. What was I supposed to do? I couldn't let them think that. It would just be a second thing to add on to people thinking I was a terrible person. The first thing was Alison.
Alison was a girl about my age. She had disappeared a year ago. And just recently they found her body. When they found her body, she was wearing my sweater. Automatically the police said that I had killed her, which I didn't. I remember that night perfectly. I saw Alison walking along the streets near Spencer Hastings' house. It was dark and cold out. She had her arms crossed, trying to keep warm. I had walked over to her to give her my jacket. It was to cold for her to be walking around with short sleeves. She politely took my jacket and walked away. That was the last I saw of her. The police don't believe me.
So now I spend my days in my house or at the law offices with my attorney. Such a fun life, I know. Today I was stuck inside the house. Jenna wasn't home, thank god. I walk out of the door and sit on our porch swing. It was a beautiful fall day. The leaves were starting to fall off of the trees and there was a slight wind. Birds were singing their songs high up in the trees. I close my eyes and listen to the peace. I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps on the sidewalk infront of my house. I look up to see Spencer Hastings' and Aria Montgomery. They stop and look at me. Spencer says something to Aria and then Spencer walks up to my house. I watch Aria walk away and look back a couple times.
" Mind if I sit?" Spencer asks.
"Sure. I would love some company." I tell her.
We sit in silence for a minute or so.
"So I overheard my mom talking about your case." She said.
I sat up straight and looked at her.
"She said that they found new evidence about Ali's..murder. Evidence that doesn't connect you to the murder." She tells me.
"What are you trying to say?" I was confused. Why in the world was she telling me this?
"I'm saying that they found another suspect. They might drop your charges." She pauses. "I just wanted to tell you. I figured you could use some good news."
"Well thank you." I say.
She gives me a smile.
"I don't think you killed her." She blurts out.
"Really?" I ask.
"Yeah." She says in a low voice.
"Well it's good to hear that someone believes me." I said with a smile.
