Chapter 1:
Belle walked up to the front doors of the school shoulders back and head up. She was excited to begin her seventh grade year at E. M. Hankins School of the Arts. She had been applied to come here when her family had moved here a few weeks after the previous year's conclusion. She took a deep breath and pushed open the large doors that led her in to the school. She walked to the front office where she was greeted by a very chipper receptionist who directed her to the guidance office for her schedule. She smiled at the woman and began to walk down the hall her boots making barely noticeable thumps as they hit the carpeted floor. Students were milling about in the halls and chattering with friends that they hadn't seen for the last 2 and half months. As she walked through the halls a few student s looked over at her but luckily it seemed that she didn't stand out to most people.
When she go to the guidance counselors offices she knocked on the door of Ms. Finley. A woman's lilting voice asked her to come in. She opened the door and saw that the room was rather dim and that the woman was sitting behind a desk covered in drawings. She beamed at her from behind the desk and motioned for her to sit down. Belle did so and fiddled with the hem of her jacket.
"It's nice to meet you Miss…" the woman said trailing off to give her a chance to tell her what her name was.
"My name is Belle, Belle Santinio. "She replied in a flat monotone.
"Miss Santinio it's a pleasure to have you attending our fine institution this year." she slid a blank schedule towards the girl and began to brief her on the classes that they offered.
It took about half an hour to finish setting up Belle's schedule. She took the sheet of paper and left the guidance offices and walking back out into the hallway. The students were all in class by now so she had the corridor to herself as she walked to her first class. She had to walk halfway around the school to find her classroom and when she got there she smoothed the skirt of her dress and opened the door.
