"Honey, I'm home!" Sarah called out as she walked into their new apartment. She threw her keys into the dish beside the door, shedding her coat as she walked through the living room and into the kitchen.
Lily hopped off their bed upstairs and made her way down the stairs, eager to see Sarah after a week apart. She walked into the kitchen to find Sarah beginning dinner, hovering over their island, chopping some kind of vegetable. Lily walked behind Sarah and snaked her arms around Sarah's waist, pulling her in tightly.
"I missed you." Lily whispered into Sarah's ear, kissing her neck softly.
"I missed you too baby." Sarah smiled, turning to face Lily, looping her arms around Lily's neck and pulling her in for a tender kiss.
Sarah's hands cupped Lily's face as she stared into her eyes, deeply. They both enjoyed the moment, no words were exchanged, just looks. Sarah ran her hands through Lily's hair, tucking a piece behind her ear, Lily smiling as she did.
"How was your day?" Sarah asked only half paying attention, she was lost in Lily's eyes. After a week of being away she'd almost forgot how beautiful they were.
"Well, it wasn't that great at first," Lily began, leaning closer into Sarah, "but it's a lot better now."
"Oh is that right?" Sarah giggled as Lily nodded.
Sarah placed her hands on Lily's cheeks once again and pulled her in for a kiss that they both got lost in. It was loving and long overdue.
The past week had been painfully long for the two of them. Nightly phone calls weren't enough no matter how many "I love you's" were exchanged. Lily had missed waking up beside her best friend, their bodies intertwined and sheets tangled from the night before. Sarah had missed holding her lover close to her body, absorbing her warmth all through the night.
As they slowly pulled away from their kiss, they stared at each other and giggled like idiots.
"God, I love you so damn much." Sarah sighed.
"I love you too babe." Lily replied, pecking Sarah on the lips one more time before helping her prepare dinner.
