Mark and Miranda

Mark Sloan, man-whore of Seattle Grace, wanted to propose to Lexie Grey. But the thing was, he didn't know how to do it. He thought about how Derek proposed – in the elevator – and how Alex proposed the second time – at the spot of their first kiss – and he wanted to do something all on his own. But the thing is, he didn't know how to come up with an idea. So he decided to go to the one person in this hospital who would give him the truth, and not make fun of him. Miranda Bailey. She had fought on his behalf when the nurses formed that club against him. Fought, yes. Brutally honest, even more so.

"Ah Bailey, just the woman I wanted to see," he said as he entered the locker room.

"What do you want Sloan?" she panned, not wanting to really hear his woman troubles today.

"I could really use your help with something," he started. "I want to propose to Lexie, but I don't know how to go about it."

"You? Married?" Miranda said, shock evident in her voice.

"Yes, I know, the man whore of Seattle Grace wants to get married, such a foreign concept," he said sarcastically. "Look, I have the ring and everything; I just don't know how to go about it."

"Oh, so you wanted a woman's advice?" she asked.

"Yeah, I mean I already know how Derek, Karev, and O'Malley did it, and I want something different, but something just as meaningful," he said, rubbing the back of his head.

"Is there something that you both enjoy doing or going to?" she asked, sitting down on the bench, indicating for him to do the same thing.

"Well, we both like watching sunrise when we are getting up for rounds," he said. "And sometimes sunsets on the ferry."

"Well there's an idea there," she said. "The next time you two have a night off, go on the ferry at sunset and propose there, by the railing you always stand by. Okay what else?"

"Well, we both like surgery," he threw out there. She frowned and shook her head. "Uhh, she likes kittens, and we've been talking about getting one."

"There is the one you should use. You know what kind she really wants?" He nodded. "Then you go to the shelter or pet shop and get it, and have the collar engraved 'Will you marry us?' I mean its cute, and sweet, and something she will always remember."

"Did you know that you were my favorite doctor here, besides Lexie?" he asked her, smiling really big. "And now I'm gonna hug you, so please don't kill me."

He leaned down and hugged the short woman, thanking her in more than words.

Dr. Bailey's phone buzzed several times the next day, each time with a different picture from Mark Sloan. He sent her a picture of the ring first, then the picture of the kitten from the shelter, the picture of the tag with the saying on it, and the cat in the middle of the room. Her phone buzzed one more time, and this time it was a text; all it said was 'She said yes'. She smiled to herself and whistled as she walked down the hallway, ready to congratulate the couple the next time she saw them.
