Do you honestly feel nothing for this girl? A girl fated to live the same life that you've endured and now you've just taken away the last of her family just as yours was taken away from you."

Bulgaria 1492

She watched her former family house burn down from a good distance. Silent tears roll down her face and she knew it was her fault they were dead. Klaus had succeeded in sending her an message. It had done the job, but at least there was a sliver lining. He didn't know of that precious baby whom she was forced to give up and Katerina vowed to herself right then and there 2 things. Her daughter would be safe from that devil and from now on she would only look out for herself.

It would be safer that way since she knew Klaus would search until the earth ends until he found her. Besides having emotional ties was an liability that she didn't need. She felt empty as all emotion disappeared as it was being ripped away and for the first time in her life well undead life now. Katerina was numb to her core and while she remembered what emotions felt like. It was like she couldn't access them and nothing truly matter anymore.

The next town over Katerina found a small inn to stay in after traveling for days. Also mostly having not any fresh blood in days. The inn clerk standing behind the counter looked at her in awe. She smiled it was good to know that her good looks wouldn't never fade away due to her vampirism. One of the perks of being an eternal beauty.

Aw, I'm down to my last Lev" she said in the saddest voice she could manage. "It's okay, you can just take the room" the guy said staring into her brindle eyes. "Thank you" she told the guy. "Can I least know our name?" He asked her. "Nikolina" Katerina replied with an smirk. Katerina Petrova was now dead and she never planned to go back to that girl.

"Nikolina" he said as if he like the taste of it on his tongue. "Miss Nikolina do you need you need help with anything?" He asked her. Ever so helpful gentleman he was. 'Nikolina' smirked at him "As matter of fact I need my dinner" with that she attacked him feeling his vein and feeding from it. It was an relief to know she was going to enjoy this.

AN: The name Nikolina comes from the lovely Nina Dobrev herself and Lev is the Bulgarian currency. So if I got that wrong for the time era well at least I tried. There allot of parallels between Katherine and Elena. Also love that line by Elijah since he single handily narrowed down the similarities of Katherine and Elena being the sole survivors of their families. I have this crazy head-canon that Katerina didn't use the name Katherine from the get go and soon after burning down her former family home. She turned off her 'switch' similar to Elena. Oh also give it an review!
