Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone

Susanne the plans they made put an end to you

I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song

I just can't remember who to send it to

Jack looked down at the crumpled piece of paper in her hand for the hundredth time, trying to will the words off of the page. " Richard B. Riddick, escaped convict, was killed while trying to escape capture at a local bar. " Lies, she told herself, all fucking lies. She slumped down in her seat on the plane, the tears leaking freely down her face, blurring the words on page.

I've seen fire and I've seen rain

I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end

I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend

But I always thought that I'd see you again

It wasn't fair. Jack knew she was acting like a child, but it was the only way she could cope. She was surprised her foster parents were even letting her come. Ok, so letting a fifteen year old attend a murderer's funeral wasn't exactly great parenting, but she was there none the less. Riddick was supposed to come for her. After the cops layed off, he was going to get her, and they were going to travel together. But now, it wouldn't happen. He survived those...those *creatures* how could he let the cops take him down?

Won't you look down upon me, Jesus

You've got to help me make a stand

You've just got to see me through another day

My body's aching and my time is at hand

And I won't make it any other way

Jack was on her knees in front of the makeshift tombstone. She watched with avid fascination as the wet soil sifted through her fingers, landing back again on top of Riddick's grave. God...Riddick's grave...That set off another bout of tears, her body shaking so hard that she had to put her hands on the ground to stay sitting.

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain

I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end

I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend

But I always thought that I'd see you again

The thunder grumbled angrily in the background, the rain pelting down upon her. Unruly strands stuck to her tear streaked cheeks. She couldnt do this...she can't. Flashes of Riddick melted behind her eyelids, and joined the tribute on her cheeks. It felt like her heart was bleeding, so slowly. A long, painful way to die.

Been walking my mind to an easy time my back turned towards the sun

Lord knows when the cold wind blows it'll turn your head around

Well, there's hours of time on the telephone line to talk about things to come

Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground

She missed him. God, how she missed him. The way even the most lighthearted of comments came out in a growl. How you felt his laughter more than heard it. Those eyes, Lord Almighty, those eyes would haunt her for the rest of her life. The way they would shine in the Pitch Black, some kind of beacon, so that you knew you weren't alone.

Oh, I've seen fire and I've seen rain

I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end

I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend

But I always thought that I'd see you, baby, one more time again, now

Jack shot up when she felt the hand on her shoulder, nearly falling over in the mud. She looked up angrily, ready to tell someone off, when her eyes widened. Lips worked quickly, no words escaping as she looked up into his smirking face. His. He was alive! She shot to her feet and threw her arms around him, blushing slightly when he peeled her off. " Ready to go? " She never knew how happy she would be to hear that rumble of a voice. She nodded eagerly, the single thought running through her mind.

Thought I'd see you one more time again

There's just a few things coming my way this time around, now

Thought I'd see you, thought I'd see you fire and rain, now
