We'll Never Forget You
It was a clear autumn day, and a dark blue female hedgehog stood walked to a headstone in a cemetery. She knelt down in front of the headstone and was stifling her sobs of sorrow.
"Oh Silver, why did you have to die, why couldn't it have been me?" she said, as her tears fell to the ground. "It was a year ago, but it seemed just like yesterday…" she said as she sighed heavily, as she flashed back when she lost her love.
"Kat, you have to help us fight Eggman and Mephiles," said a silver hedgehog with concern in his voice.
"I'm not much use in fights." Kat said sadly as she stared at her feet.
"Kat, I promise, any attack would help Blaze and I greatly," explained Silver, and Blaze nodded in agreement.
"Well, OK…" Kat agreed, with a slight concern and worry.
The three friends ventured off in search of the enemies. They were in search of the foes to change the past, and to make all things well in the future. It wasn't long before Blaze saw a shadow out of the corner of her eye.
"It's Mephiles!" Blaze shouted, pointing at the shadow.
Kat ran to grab the shadow, and sure enough, it was Mephiles.
"You're not on our side!" Silver shouted as he tried to attack Mephiles, but Blaze caught Silver's arm before he got to hit him.
Mephiles had known Kat was the weakest out of all of them, and he threw a chaos spear at Kat.
"KAT! NO!" Silver shouted as he ran in front of her, and absorbed the impact of the attack.
Silver fell to the ground, as Mephiles disappeared.
"No! Silver! Wake up, please!" Kat screamed, as she picked up her friend's limp body.
Silver tried to open his eyes, but he couldn't.
"Blaze… Kat… please… just believe in yourself… and… please… don't… forget...me…" Silver weakly said to his closest friends as his heart ceased beating and his eyes closed forever. Kat felt his body go limp in his arms.
"Silver… no…" Kat whispered as she tried to stifle the tears.
Blaze was also teary eyes at Silver's final words. Kat carried Silver's body to his favorite place, with Blaze at her side the entire time.
"Well, Silver… do you remember this place?" Kat asked. "It's your favorite place." She said, as she set Silver's body under his favorite tree.
"We've sure had some good times, haven't we?" Blaze asked Kat.
"Yes, we certainly have," Kat responded.
Blaze picked up Silver's body and carried him to the funeral home. There was a lovely service a few days after Silver's death. As stories were being told about Silver, Kat couldn't help but remember what Silver had said as his dying words.
"...just…believe…in yourself…and… please… don't…forget…me…" Those words would never be erased from her mind.
Kat let a tear fall on her lap as she was thinking about her friend, and her love. She only wished she could have told him how she felt about him. Blaze looked over at Kat, and could see she was upset. Blaze placed a hand on her shoulder, and smiled. Kat tried to smile, but the sadness ate her up inside. Blaze could tell why Kat was so upset.
They already buried Silver's body before the service, so after the service, Kat and Blaze visited the grave site after Sonic and Amy left to pay their last respects.
The two teenage girls knelt by the head stone, and Kat gently guided her finger on the carvings on the head stone.
Silver the Hedgehog
Great Hero and Friend to all
Rest in Peace
Kat felt her eyes fill with new tears, and let some of them fall on to the fresh dirt over the grave. Blaze placed two red roses on Silver's grave.
"We'll never forget you…" Blaze said sadly as she and Kat got up and walked away.
Kat opened her eyes and snapped back to the present. She stared at the obsidian headstone, and placed another two roses on his grave.
"Blaze and I miss you everyday Silver. We'll see you when we do." Kat whispered as she looked at the headstone and turned and walked away.
