Magna Carta: Tears of Blood Chapter 1

Moons upon moons past by Calintz's eyes as he gazed up at their increasing shapes. From a quarter, to half, to full then back to a half then a quarter again, and all he did was stare. As if he stared death in the face. He felt a swell of sorrow fill his heartbroken chest. He took a breath to keep himself from breaking down. Just that thought made him feel weak. He resented that.

"Reith…" His dehydrated lips mustered. His throat was dry and his body numb. Reith was all he could think of, she who had died in front of him, she who was a Yason. Not just any Yason at that, the Queen of all Yason, and Calintz despised the Yason.

He shifted from his position. As he sat up he felt a little dizzy. He closed his eyes then began to move, one foot in front of the other, slowly turning it into a walk. His mind wandered and the path a head was uncertain. However, he moved just the same, dragging his feet. Each step felt like a bag of bricks was tied to his ankles adding more weight. He raised his hand to cover the beating sun from his tired eyes. He was deprived of sleep, food and water, but he felt the need to move. He couldn't take it anymore.

Suddenly his eyes darted to the sky. He saw a strange sight. Something he though he might never see. Reith's Familiar. It flapped its flaming wings as it stared at him. He blinked and it had vanished. He held his head thinking it was some kind of mirage or that perhaps his mind had played a cruel trick on him but when he turned he saw her.

"R…Reith…!" He felt his heart stop. His mind went blank and he couldn't speak. He didn't know what to say.

"Calintz, do not fear pain and sorrow. It is with in that in which you will release your suffering." Her bright smile beamed then her figure disappeared.

She reappeared beside him, but facing the opposite direction. "I'll always be in your heart, Calintz."

He turned to hug her but found her gone. His breathing became heavy. He couldn't stand it. Her face, her voice. He felt himself begin to cry. The tears swelled up in his eyes and he closed them falling to his knees. His slender fingers gripped the brown dirt and his silver-white hair covered his cries.

"Just…stop!" He ordered.

She reappeared, this time in a group, posing in all kinds of positions. Sitting, standing, kneeling, crouching and all were facing different directions. "But Calintz…don't you know how I feel. Don't you want to be with me?"

"But I can't now! Just…leave…"

"You can not slouch in depression forever. What about your friends. What about your purpose…"

Calintz looked up and only one Reith was visible. She was crouching in front of him. Her hand reached up and touched his cheek. "Do not be sad Calintz. I have not died."

His eyes widened and he gasped. He fell backwards. Her hand had been warm and he could feel her heart beat. "What! But I saw…!"

"What you saw…" She started. "Wasn't me."

He reached his hand out to touch her and found, when his hand met hers', that she was truly there. She was truly alive. "Who…?"

"It was…" She sat down. A few tears dripped down her porcelain cheeks. Her delicate fingers wiped them away. "The person you saw die…was my twin sister. She just wasn't…strong enough."

Calintz wasn't sure how to comfort her but all he really cared about at the moment was the fact that Reith, the woman he loved, was still alive.
