Summary: Ethan shots Brian because he wants to make sure that Justin stays with him forever. Brian doesn't die but is in a coma, and knows what is going on around him. He is desperate to wake up, because he knows Justin is in danger from the fiddler.
Prologue
Brian Kinney can blame Justin for a lot of things. He can blame him for causing him to ditch his one fuck only rule. He can blame him for having his life turned upside down and making him care about others more so than he did before. Brian can blame Justin for when Brian gained weight from Justin's cooking, or when they decided to "play" with food. Fattening food that would require Brian to work extra hard when working out.
Brain can even blame Justin for making Brain feel things that he swore he would never feel. Brian can blame him for the paint stains on his hardwood floor and on his expensive Italian couch. Brian can blame Justin for the fact that Brain wants to be better for Justin. Which he considers a crime, because you can't improve on perfection.
Most of all Brian can blame Justin for leaving him for that stupid, poor, and lying "Ian," and making Brian miserable and having to order hustlers and call boys, all of whom remind him of Justin in some way. He can blame how Justin has crawled inside of his skin and no matter what or whom Brian does, he is still there.
And (even though it is a bit far fetched) in some way Brian can blame Justin for the fact that Brian got shot.
