Hello! This is the first piece for fanfiction.net that does not involve my
dear little hobbitses! I figured that I already know all the parts of LotR
with them inside and out, so I thought that writing about other parts of
the novel would improve my understanding of it. But don't you worry, all
you hobbit lovers, for I will still be mostly writing about them!
Summary: Hmmm... I really do not feel like telling you whom this is about... that would take all the fun out of it, don't you think? I would really like you to read it and try to figure it out for yourselves. I'll put a real summary at the bottom of the page, if you feel like being boring... otherwise... enjoy!
Disclaimer: I don't own Lord of the Rings, or the mysterious characters involved in this sonnet. Nor do I own the Shakespearean sonnet form, which I am using. (Perfect iambic pentameter! I even got my loony English teacher to check it for me! ::pats herself on the back:: )
O, beauteous little seamstress soon to wed,
Will thou not introduce me to thy beau?
I see thou art to busy with thy thread.
A veil of shadow thou dost sew, and so
If each of thy strands were a deceit
And teardrops turned to pearls of lovely white
From lips of rose whence came thy poison sweet
And sorrows drown'd in depths of lack of light
Wouldst come a chain beyond a Queen's compare.
But if the gems shone black, as dost thy heart,
'Twould show the lie that is thy lum'nous hair.
What shame that he was stricken by thy dart!
But since thy lovely visage doth not fade,
He shall not do as his heart true once bade.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Have a guess? If you guessed that it is Eowyn speaking to Arwen, you are coooorrrreeeect! It's kinda funny, but I set out to understand the books better, but I ended up writing a sonnet that is just my current interpretation of their relationship (I've been jealous of a certain girl dating I certain guy who I thought liked me!!! grrr...) I don't think that Eowyn actually ever felt envious of Arwen specifically. O, well. I am still very fond of this sonnet, and that's what counts.
Actually, what really counts is what you think! Please review! Please, please, please...
