I was taking a little break from my training when this white vortex appeared in midair. "What the?" Nico said. "It looks like some soft of a communication device." Annabeth observed, which she does all the time. "Or a portal." I stood up and went over to it. Up close, the white sphere of whirling light spun with an amazing force.
But my attentions were focused on the sounds that came from it. Birdsong, cats meowing, rustle of leaves, all that nature-y stuff. My fingers were magically drawn towards it. "Wait, Percy!" Annabeth yelled, but my fingers had already touched the globe. Whoosh! A silver light exploded from it, grasping me, Annabeth, and Nico.
When I finally opened my eyes, someone was standing over me. A cat. "You're awake." He said. "Where is this place?" I asked. Judging from the stars, it was night. And night means that I can't see well, even in my cat form. Wait. Cat form? My mind whirled like the vortex as I took in the shocking information. "This place, as you call it, is the Moonpool. I was about to fall asleep when you three fell in." The gray tom mewed, shaking his fur. "Fell in? Oh." I suddenly noticed the round pool behind me, fed by a small stream.
"Somehow, you didn't get wet." The cat continued. "Anyways, I'll take you three to meet our leader." I blinked. "What for?" Annabeth asked, scaring the heck out of me. "This is Clan territory. The Clans all share this place, though no cat owns it." A grunt behind me turned my attention. Nico, now a raven-black tom, was lying unconscious on the stone, and a silver cat was trying to move him. "Ughh!" She growled through a mouthful of fur. "Get up, for StarClan's sake!"
Then Nico did wake up, dazed. "Hello?" Was all he said before slumping to the ground. "Jayfeather, he's broken his leg." The silver she-cat announced. "Deal with him then, Silvermoon." Jayfeather replied, signaling for me and Annabeth to follow. "But we can't leave him." I protested, then broke off as I saw what Silvermoon was doing.
