Snow is falling

The lone figure sat on the roof of the Stark tower.

Steven Rodgers breathed in and out, the gently snow slowly covering him. He didn't like the cold, and although it was Christmas, he didn't feel like celebrating. Probably because of the snow.

He sighed. It was pathetic really. Why did he get depressed about temperature and weather? He had been in the future for a year now, living in Stark tower (which he still believed was the ugliest thing he'd seen since Bucky' s sad attempt at a 23rd birthday cake) and he honestly thought he would be okay by now.

Sadly, he wasn't.

Jack breathed in and out, wishing for a split second that his breathe could have been warm enough that he could see it in the air. He had decided that New York deserved a white Christmas, after the rough year they had.

Nothing was better than flying through the skyline. Nothing. Until that was ruined by a man sitting on the edge of a rather large tower.

A jumper. At Christmas.

Jack frowned. This wasn't happening today. Not a Christmas.

"What's up, mister?" Jack floated around the blonde haired man, and continued talking, even though he realised that he couldn't be heard, "It gets better than this, so... you might ,um, not want to jump?" He ran his hand through his white hair. How was he meant to do this?

A gust of wind tugged at Steve's arm. He wasn't a supernatural person, but it definitely felt like someone was there.

"I wish I could go home." He sighed.

Jack raised an eyebrow, "that makes two of us dude..." Oh, wait. The man couldn't hear him. Why did grownups have to be so... grownup? It was infuriating!

Steve gazed at the skyline, "but it gets better than this..." Jack nodded his head enthusiastically. That was the spirit!

"And I have my family downstairs. The Avengers aren't much, but they've all I've got..."

"So go celebrate with them! Don't let life beat you, mister! We all have it hard, but it will be worth it in the end."

"Thanks kid."

Wait... What?

"You can see me?" Jack jumped back in disbelief. He cautiously waved a hand in front of Steve's face.

"We met before, remember? You saved me when... when I froze." Jack nodded, beginning to recall the incident.

"Your Captain America!"

Steve smiled, "Nice to meet you. Again. And I guessed you saved me. Again."

"You were actually going to jump?"

Ashamed, Steve lowered his head, "I -" he was interrupted by the fire escape door swinging opening.

"Hey, Steve! We're playing Twister, you in?" It was Tony.

Not fully understanding what they were doing, Steve sighed. Did he really have a choice?

"Okay, Tony," he turned back to Jack, "No one deserves to be alone at Christmas, do you want to come in?"

"Your right. No one does. I have a family quite like yours that I need to get back to." Jack gave Steve a small smile and a salute, "Merry Christmas Steve. Make sure it's a good one."

Steve saluted back, "you too, and thank you."

Tony laughed, "C'mon, Steve! The cold is probably making you delusional! Although, Clint thinks he can beat Natasha at Twister, so I think he's more delusional than the rest of us combined..."

Steve smiled. It was Christmas, after all. And the snow made him remember that he wasn't alone.
