Title: Glamour
Author: Jessamyn
Rating: G? PG? Something like that.
Notes/summary: A challenge by Helen to write about Max's gender issues.

The City never sleeps and lately neither does he it seems. The steady stiletto click of his steps is purposeful though and the make-up hides any signs of his weariness.

He's lucky to have this job at all and wouldn't dare think of turning down an offer of hours. Not with all the other girls clamoring for a spot at the prestigious Glamour, a nightclub right off of the strip.

Besides, this is what he's been dreaming of ever since he could remember. Suppressed beneath all the 'someday we'll go home's and 'you are my destiny's it lay in wait until finally, on the day he saw these lights shining brighter than any star could ever hope to, he couldn't do it anymore. Couldn't live with the lie. Couldn't pretend to be a King. Not when he knew exactly what he was. Not when he knew he was really a Queen.

A smile lifted his coral painted lips as he sauntered through the side door. And even as he sat at his vanity to prepare the elaborate stage make-up for his performance the feeling grew stronger, and he started to hum out a familiar tune. This was where he belonged. This was what he was meant to do.

~Fairy tales can come true, it could happen to you...~
