"Eeuwww…that is so not something I want to see on my dinner plate!" O'Neill told Daniel. He looked across at the silver platter that had what looked like giant slugs on it, and they were moving.
"Lets hope we don't have to eat it." Daniel replied in a hushed voice.
"Indeed." Teal'c said from Jack's right.
O'Neill watched as the platter was moved ever closer to their position at the table. He swallowed past the lump that had suddenly appeared in his throat and prayed to whatever deity was listening to keep them from eating the food.
"Uh, sir." Carter said, her eyes were fixed on the platter as well. "I think this is the 'welcome' dish."
"Oh hell." O'Neill muttered. "Don't tell me we have to eat that crap?"
"Er, Jack," Daniel said. "I think we just might."
"Oh no way." O'Neill repeated. "To hell with the treaty I'm not eating that!"
"Travelers." The chief said. "We would be honored if your leader would partake of this dish. It shall signify the signing of the Treaty."
Daniel held in his laughter and Carter tried to hide her smile, Teal'c merely raised an amused eyebrow.
"Oh, no way." O'Neill said again. He watched in disgust as they put a handful of the slugs onto his plate. At least the weren't really moving, his mind told him, just a trick of the light. "Uh, thanks."
"You are most welcome." The chief smiled and went to sit at the head of the table. "Go on, eat!"
O'Neill picked on up by it's end at dangled it over the plate. He so did not want to eat the slug.
"C'mon, Jack." Daniel cajoled. "You afraid of the slug?"
"Shut up, Daniel." O'Neill growled low. "Or you won't be fit to speak again."
He looked at the thing pinched between his thumb and forefinger, then to the chief. If the planet wasn't so rich in Naquadah he would have stuffed the slug up their gay little native asses. But of course that was not the case, it seemed the universe was conspiring against him. Swallowing the bile that had risen in his throat he closed his eyes and swallowed it. It tasted like slime, felt like slime, slipped and wiggled down his throat and into his stomach.
"Oh god!" he breathed, desperately trying not to up chuck it. A canteen was placed in his hands and he gulped down the water. "Thanks, Carter."
"No problem, sir." He swore he could hear a smile in her voice. He knew Daniel would laugh his ass of later. Oh he was never gonna live this down!
"A toast!" the chief called. "To our Tau'ri friends!"
"The Treaty!" the crowd roared, O'Neill up chucked his lunch.
"Nice one, Jack." Daniel snickered, then it turned to laughter. Yes, the world was most definitely against Jack O'Neill, he held no doubts about it, none at all.
