Lost
It was dark and damp in the dungeons of Sky hold. He could hear the sound of the boots of the guardsmen as they patrolled just outside the bars. He pain them little mind. They didn't matter. Nothing mattered any more. The one thing that kept him going, kept him fighting was gone. She was gone, Hawke was gone.
He had listened as Aveline had read the letter aloud. He had destroyed what little was left in the old estate. Aveline had tried to talk him down, but nothing calmed him. At least, Donnic had realized that it might be a good idea to get his wife away from him.
He had come here alone. He had told no one. He had wanted to hear Varric tell him what had happened. The dwarf truly had thought a letter was enough.
Of course, it hadn't gone as he had planned. Seeing Varric had caused so much pain. So now he sat chained to the wall. Would he be judged by the Inquisitor? He did not know. Not that it mattered to him.
"Broody, you going to actually let me talk this time?"
Fenris slowly turned towards the dwarf that had once been his friend. "Go away, Varric."
"I know you don't want to hear it, but listen up. Corypheus isn't dead. Hawke was helping us find information on him."
"He's dead Varric. I was there remember."
"So was I, but he's alive. We don't know how, but he is. He killed the Divine and had taken control of the Wardens."
"That doesn't explain what you said happens."
Varric sighed, "I didn't lie. We were in the Fade, physically, and Hawker stayed behind to make sure the rest of us could escape. She was watching out for us all like always."
Fenris hung his head., "what's going to happen to me?"
"Well, Cullen's going to let you cool down a bit. He understands how you feels more than you would think. They aren't planning to judge you. The truth is they want you to join the Inquisition, Fenris."
"Why would I do that?"
"Because Hawke did. You would be a great help. Of course, we would have to keep you away Dorian, but you would be a great help."
"I have nothing left, Varric."
"She wouldn't want you to be like this. Help us with Corypheus, Fenris. She would want you to."
Fenris sighed, "I don't think I can."
"Give it a try. It's better than sitting here in the dark brooding."
Fenris slowly stood up, "give me time, Varric."
Varric nodded, "you've got all the time you need. The Inquisitor doesn't want to let you out until she can be sure you won't attack me or her. I don't want to see you with Cullen's sword through your chest cause you did something."
"Why would the Knight Commander do that?"
"Because you dare to attack the woman he loves, Broody. Like I said he understands how you feel. Also, don't call him that. He's just Commander or Cullen now."
"Go, Varric. Leave me be."
"I'll come back. There are people who still care about you."
"Go, Varric."
Varric sighed, before the walked away leaving Fenris once again in the dark.
Fenris fell back against the wall of his cell. Could he keep going? Could he do what Varric asked? He knew she wouldn't want him to be this. He could help train. He could help fight. He could...forget.
So yes, it ends in a cliff hanger. Did Cole show up or did something else happen? Just a little idea that popped in my head thinking about how he would react if Hawke didn't make it.
So review if you please.
