A/N: Just a short, on the fly story.

Stars

"Why are stars so magical?

They are wished upon, used to show unearthly powers, and even placed on trees as a symbol of direction.

So why are they revered so much?

They're just balls of gas burning billions of miles away. And there's lots of them."

"Why do always have to question everything, Tails?" Amy pouted. "Can't you just enjoy something for what it is for once?"

"No." The deadpan answer made the girl sigh.

"I guess not even the Christmas magic can change your mind, eh?"

"There's only a couple more hours of this special time anyways. We'll soon join the other half of the world in getting back to normal. And besides, what magic?"

"You know, the magic that makes people so kind and generous to others…"

"Tell that to all the people who work in retail."

"But think of all the charities that get so much…"

"You mean the ones that the general public doesn't even acknowledge for most of the year. You think that they just spring out of nowhere?"

The silence that followed the question lasted long enough for Tails to raise his upper body to look over at Amy still laying in the grass.

"You don't think I don't know this?" She came up to meet him. "You always do this. You always overthink on a situation." The fox tried to say something but she held a hand out to cut him off. "Yes, I know 'overthink' is the wrong word and it's good to actually do that sometimes, but you don't know why I think that stars are magical."

"I can't even explain why they are." She whispered, turning her attention back to the sky.

Tails looked up again. As much as he analyzed the stars, he couldn't find why other people found them so special. His gaze went back to his companion. Maybe the magic she was talking about had different effects on every person.

But what were the effects?
