Geo was sad. Tonight was Christmas Eve. It was exactly 4 years since his father was announced missing. He sat outside while the snow fell around him. Geo fell back into the snowbank and fell asleep, tired.
Luna walked up to Geo's house and saw Geo fast asleep. Worried he would get sick, she tried to pick him up and bring him into the house. He was just a little bit too heavy. She then gently shook his shoulder.
"Geo? You awake?" she asked.
Geo slowly opened his eyes. Upon seeing Luna, he gasped and sat up quickly, shivering slightly from being in the snow.
"Let's go inside, yeah?" Luna asked gently.
Geo nodded. He tried standing up only to fail miserably and flop over into the snow once more. Luna giggled a bit.
"Want some help?" Luna offered.
"Yeah. Thanks," Geo told her once he was standing up.
"No problem."
Geo sighed. His father acted the same way Luna acted whenever he fell and needed help.
"What's wrong, Geo?" Luna asked, seeing Geo's face fall.
"Nothing. Nothing's wrong," He replied.
"Geo. Tell me."
"No. I'm fine."
"You're not fine."
"Are too."
"Are not."
They bickered back and forth for a while. After a few more "Are not" 's and "Are too" 's, Geo and Luna's conversation started to die down. After a while, Luna spoke.
"Okay. Let's go inside, yeah?"
"Yeah. Let's go in."
Suddenly, Geo let out a couple of sneezes that shook his body.
"Atchoo! Atchoo! Atchoo!"
"Now see? If we weren't bickering, you wouldn't have a chance to get sick."
"Shut up."
"Tell me Geo. Please. I won't tell anyone if you don't want me too."
"Alright! I'll tell you. Let's go in first and get comfy. It might be a while."
The two went in and sat on the couch side by side. Geo took a deep breath and started talking.
"You see… it all started 4 years ago…"
Geo walked home after school to see his mother sitting at the table with tears cascading down her face.
"Mom? What happened?" he asked.
"Oh Geo." She said before crying again.
"Where's dad? When's he coming home? Mom, you've got to tell me!"
"I'm sorry. He won't be home for Christmas."
On Christmas Eve, his mother told him that his dad was missing and no one knew where his body was. Only then did Geo cry.
"Oh Geo. I'm so sorry," Luna cried.
"It's alright Luna. You didn't know," Geo reassured her.
The two remained silent. Then Geo's breath hitched. Warm tears cascaded down his face. He buried his face into his hands and knees. Luna hugged him and, to her relief, he didn't flinch. In fact, he leaned into the hug.
"Thanks," he mumbled.
"No problem, Geo."
They looked up and saw mistletoe. Their cheeks became red. They leaned closer until their lips met. Once they pulled away, Geo was no longer sad, but he was very happy. That day, he even gained a girlfriend. Luna kept her promise and didn't tell anyone. Not even her closest friends. And Geo and Luna stayed together until the end.
