The Shattered Bottle and a Single Word

The shattered bottle and a single word

Thought the glass was stronger

The dream is damaged

From your spoken remark called failure

You were followed all these years

All the choices made were yours

Without question they were followed

Silently didn't you know how they were abhorred?

As punishment for harmless attractions,

A stain on their name to God

The crime?

Not loving your choice for a future

In confidence I told you of my first love

From seemingly impossible dreams they stemmed

Secret hopes and unspoken adventures

You didn't laugh at them

God forgive this if it is sin.

Your preferred future is unbearable

Though good intentions were derived from within

The victim's result is pained and miserable

Opinions fall on the voluntary deaf

Pleas and pain died before they reached their goal

Trying to move your mind is like moving a mountain

It's shattering the heart of this tortured soul

You were supposed to stand by me

Why aren't you?

Through years and sands of time

I cared for your dreams,

But you feigned love for mine.
