A/N: Okay, I just finished working on the second chapter to my Fruits Basket/Harry Potter x-over story, The Witch and Her Rat, for the day when I got this idea for a story that I just had to write down. The fact that it's 5 A.M. (now 6) and I haven't slept yet is not important.
Sorry for any spelling and grammar mistakes. I went over it three times but I always seem to overlook something.
So here it is my first Naruto fanfic.
Flowing Water, Still Earth
She felt the cold water beneath her bare feet as she moved across its surface, training, or was she dancing? It was both and neither. She was one with the water yet bending it beneath her will. She was in control and being taken control of.
Water was always moving, flowing in all directions with no reason other than to keep going on in an endless circle of motion. It was smooth and soft, yet it could be harsh and unforgiving.
It did not move like the earth, sharp and rough.
Earth was her family, they moved in precise movements. Always them same, if you didn't do it one way then it was wrong.
Water was always moving in different directions. It was never the same, changing constantly to fit to situation. Water was what she was.
Her family would always look down upon her for not following their ways, for not being like them. They were not able to understand the ways of the ever flowing river, of the still lake, of the vast ocean.
It was her that looked down upon them, they who would never know joy the way she did. They would always be strict, unforgiving people who couldn't except that there were other ways to do things, other ways to live, better ways.
They would throw her out of their family, as the disgrace they saw her as, and she would accept it, because she was tired of trying to be what they wanted, tired of seeking her fathers approval when all she was met with was disappointment. She was tired of trying to be earth when she was water.
She would change to fit her new place in life in ways they couldn't dream of doing. She would be, for the first time in her life, the true Hinata.

It's a one-shot, but I might make a story based on this maybe sometime next year or something if people really want me to. If so tell me when in the timeline of Naruto that the event above should take place.
