Ten Tales of the Uchiha Clan and the Sharingan

1. Legend states that the Uchiha and Senju clans are descended from the two sons of the Sage of the Six Paths. The elder brother, who believed that power and might would bring order to the world, was born with the eyes of the Sage himself. He was passed over as the Sage's successor for his younger brother and out of rage and jealous, started the feud that would result in the bitter rivalry between the Senju and Uchiha clans for the rest of time.

This is a lie.

2. When the Sage of the Six Paths asked his eldest son what would bring order to the world, he responded that insight and wisdom would bring peace. His father, impressed by his eldest son's answer, gave him the power to see everything. His eyes turned a milky white and became what is today known as the Byakugan. When the Sage asked the question to his younger son, the boy answered the same as in the legend and received the spirit of life. It gave him the power to interact with nature on the deepest of levels.

When the Sage of the Six Paths asked the question to his youngest child, she answered that power and might would finally bring peace to the world. The Sage scowled and gave her nothing. The girl, angry and jealous, stole her brothers' new powers and left, never to be seen again.

3. It is ironic that the Sharingan, which was made up of the stolen powers of the Sage's eldest children, has the ability to copy, memorize, and steal the abilities of it's opponents.

4. It is also ironic, that while the descendants of the eldest brother, the Hyuuga, are the ones most associated with fatalism, it is the Uchiha who are cursed by fate.

5. It is even more ironic that all those who unlocked its ultimate power slowly loose their sight. The Mangekyo blinds the blind, as the Uchiha were blinded by power and greed a long time ago.

6. The Sharingan demands blood. It screams for it, begs for it, and corrupts its wielders until they can think of nothing else. This is the reason why the Uchiha believed for years that the Mangekyo Sharingan can only be obtained by killing your best friend. They never considered there could be another option.

7. Kakashi obtained the Mangekyo the day Obito died; he just didn't know.

8. In the entire history of the Sharingan, there have only been two people who have unlocked it because they were protecting someone. The first was Obito. The second was Sasuke.

9. Not many know this, but the Sage of the Six Paths was actually the bastard son of an Uzumaki man. The Uzumaki know, obviously, but they would never admit it if you are to ask them. They deny him as a member of their family, not because he was illegitimate, but because of his children.

This is why the Uzumaki will scoff at the Hyuuga (who promised to look outward to gain wisdom, but instead only looked at themselves) and the Uchiha (thieves by nature and blinded by hatred) when they boast of their all-powerful bloodlines. They allied themselves with the Senju Clan, but shake their heads when the Wars begin and Konoha agrees to fight. They've lived long enough lives to know that the children of the Sage will never keep their word.

Madara believes that the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan is what has given him his long life. He is so very wrong.

It is ironic that it is an Uzumaki who shows him this, just before he dies.

10. The Sharingan is matrilineal. Only Itachi knows this and it is a comfort to him as he dies that the curse his family has carried is finally at an end.

Hey guys.

I was having a bit of writer's block, so I tried to do something from a different fandom to get the creative juices running again. I hoped it turned out okay.

The next chapter of The Others should be up soon.

Until then, my dearest readers,
