Like a ghost, her face emerged from the darkness

Streaked by tears and dust

He had no more words to say to her

His silence was enough

She closed her eyes as the shot went through

Didn't see him turn away from shame

He turned from the body to see her face

Full of love and trust

Emerging from the darkness
