I heard Eowyn open the door. I shifted a little. Knowing her, she's probably upset.

I felt her crawl into bed next to me, lying back to back.

I swore I heard her crying a little when she walked in. I should have known better, the storm must have brought back our childhood memories.

The day Uncle Theoden took us in...

The days we used to ride together...

She needs me. With Wormtongue haunting and watching her steps, she's never safe.

Rolling over, I enveloped her in my arms, warming her cold body.

Oh, Eowyn, I promise I will protect you with what it takes. In death or pain, if I can, I will.

The sun is rising, I can hear my sister breathing softly beside me, still asleep.

I slowly roused her from her slumber, calling her name softly.

She looked at me with her pale eyes, I looked back into hers, smiling slightly as I did.

I held her close, and did not let go of her until the sun had fully risen behind the mountains.
