Hello guys, Founder's Phoenix here, introducing you to my very first fanfiction and probably my only because it takes so long for me to write. Be patient and we'll get to where the excitement is! Now let's begin!
This has been edited so if you are rereading it, it will be slightly different. I think i have improved the writing from when it was first published in 2013. 25/02/2017
It started one night where they were reliving their memories a la Sirius...
Chapter 1~ It Begins...
It was the last day of Hogwarts for Lily Evans and as she was stood in line with her classmates, she looked onto the black lake that covered the beautiful scenery of the magical school to her right and to her left was an audience of parents, including hers and some friends.
She was waiting to receive her certificate and career choice list in front of witches and wizards from all over Britain looking for their future workforce. Standing before Lily was her best friend Emma Davenport, similarly standing, shuffling nervously, waiting to see what she had achieved in her time at Hogwarts.
"What are the chances that I actually passed all my exams? I probably won't even get into the academy." whispered Emma, who looked over her shoulder to find a certain blonde haired, blue-eyed boy looking at her, not so discreetly. "It's just my luck that Daniel Granger wanted to be a healer as well. Look at him. He keeps on staring at me. Don't you think he gets the message?"
"Why don't you just give him a chance?" Stated Lily, raising her eyebrows at her friend as she got called up. As Emma walked up she glared at her best friend as Lily just shook her head smirking. She knew they'd get together at some point, it was inevitable after this long.
Daniel Granger had been stuck to Emma's side for the past year, and ever since third year was nearly always staring at her in admiration. Not that no one else did, he was just the most blatant about going about it and got away with it. Everyone knew who Emma and her friends were. They were the 'popular' kids if you could call them that at a school like Hogwarts. Emma and Lily were part of this group of five girls along with Lunette Lovegood, a short but sweet girl who always seemed to be away with the fairies but was very intelligent when you got to know her. There was also Genevieve Halliwell, a well-known metamorphagus at the school whose bark was just as big as her bite. She was fun and playful and made the group laugh more than any other. Lastly, Diana Spencer who, after being quite reserved in public took the chance at Hogwarts to be her lively and opinionated self.
These five were the closest of friends and nothing seemed to be able to break them, it just wasn't possible. Along with the girls came the hormonal boys that obviously couldn't keep away. The few that didn't have those chemical reactions overwhelm them all the time were the Marauders, the pranking legends of Hogwarts, which included James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Daniel Granger. Probably the most annoying thing in their lives but that didn't mean they'd ever change it. They had and provided fun and made them less worried about school in a time when that was all they cared about. It was a good group of people to have so when they needed to be serious they were and if they didn't, that wasn't easily fixed.
"Well, what to say about Emma Davenport? Mixed with a…let's say troublesome group at Hogwarts, her life here still flourished as a result. The making of her maybe because of the most loyal friends supporting her through thick and thin. There hard times ahead for the wizarding world and she will be one of the strong ones to come through fighting from what I can see of her life here, which is a couple of the reasons why she has achieved some of the highest marks in all her subjects, leading her into a career as a healer, earning a place at The Academy of Healers. Congratulations Emma and good luck with everything."
As Albus Dumbledore finished his speech, her friends were cheering and shouting for her, Dan being the loudest by far, jumping up and down. Lily looked at Dan then giving Emma a knowing look which she rolled her eyes at but she was smiling widely inside. Maybe he wasn't so bad and they would be spending a lot of time together over the next few years.
She watched as her friends continued to cheer loudly for her even when she reached Sirius who hugged her tightly before letting her go. She looked back at the group on the other side of the stage and could feel a tear slide down her face. This was the last day they'd spend together at Hogwarts and it just hit her as she finished her time. Sirius put an arm around her shoulder and squeezed for a second making her giggle and wipe her eyes. She pushed back those thoughts and waited, watching Lily collect her awards.
"Lillian Evans, the brightest witch of her generation is all I need to say," Started Dumbledore while Lily gaped at him, "but I will continue. As predicted by all her professors, she achieved O's across the board meaning she has a choice in any career she so chooses. That is why I say to everyone out there, get her while you can in her professional life and personal because she is a brilliant young woman and will become one of the most foremost minds in the wizarding world." He was looking at James as he said this, making him uncomfortable. He always did have a weird obsession in the lives of his students. He tried to ignore it and smile at his girlfriend during her moment. "Lily you will achieve greatness, that is why I am willing to offer you any apprenticeship with any of our teachers so you would hopefully be able to teach here in the future."
"I'm sorry professors but I'm still considering what to do with my life. Now I know my qualifications; over the summer I will be considering what careers I would enjoy but for next year it is not possible." Stated Lily, while thinking sarcastically in her head, 'That is the oddest request. Why would I do that?'.
"I understand completely but for now a big round of applause for Lily Evans." Cheered Dumbledore but was a bit disgruntled like she'd ruined his plans. Even louder cheers we're heard from everyone mostly from professors and students. Everyone knew and loved the head girl. She deserved everything she had achieved.
Lily left the stage and hugged Emma as they jumped together with Sirius looking on. She waved to James across from them and he mouthed 'I love you.' Making her grin and say it back as the rest of their class got their certificates. If only they knew they'd all be together over twenty years later only married with children.
31st October 1981 8:00pm (not twenty years later…)
"And that is how these two lovely ladies achieved their qualifications to become a healer and a wand-maker for our crappy wizarding community." Sirius explained, "We can leave the rest of us out because compared to you too, and maybe Dan, we failed." He laughed, leaning back into his seat after bringing back an old memory for the group. Evie and Lunette were glaring at him for saying they were all incompetent practically and with the both of them being pregnant, Remus decided he needed to do something before a bought of hormonal magic lashed out at one of his best friends.
"Em and Lily aren't the only ones who earned their preferred careers that day Sirius, these beautiful ladies sitting beside us made themselves into a very successful curse breaker and an excellent dragon keeper which are both very challenging and highly-skilled careers. I couldn't do either of them." Remus said, putting an arm around his wife, smiling down at her as she beamed up at him, earning him a kiss on the cheek from a six weeks pregnant Lunette, snuggling into the side of her husband.
Evie's eyes were now fixed on Sirius still glaring at her husband while she could see Lunette and Remus cuddling in the corner of her eyes and it just made her feel worse, in her hormonal state of mind. Who knew that her normally laid back personality would change so dramatically when she was pregnant.
"Why don't you say or do something like that once in a while." mumbled Evie, crossing her arms over her nearly eight months' big belly. "James, Remus and Daniel do, it's just you. Sirius Black, you need to sort out what you're going to say to me or we're going to have a problem and this isn't just because of the baby." She stormed into James and Lily's cottage in Godric's Hollow. They were sat outside in late October and no one would know it was supposed to be cold as it was late in the year because of the heating charm they'd placed on the area.
You could hear Evie stomp up the stairs and Sirius sighed, standing up to follow his wife and apologise once again for the misinterpretation of his words. It had happened many times before. He wouldn't use that excuse though. Emma patted his shoulder stopping him from moving as she and Dan rose.
"We'll go up and check on her seeing. We can check on Hermione while we're up there as well as the others." Said Emma and entered the house, Dan trailing behind her gripping his wife's hand.
James and Lily had three children, Dorea, Charlus and Harry, the first two named after James' late parents. Luna was Lunette and Remus's daughter with another on the way. Dori and Charlie were three-year-old twins born just after James and Lily had got married and finished their training to be an Auror and Wand-maker. There was a similar situation with Lunette and Remus but they had Luna before they got married.
"Sirius, you know you could have gone up and seen if your wife was alright?" Lily commented, giving Sirius a look as he sat back down into his set looking depleted.
"I know, I was going to but Em and Dan offered and have already gone up." Sirius said, clearly exasperated in not being able to do anything right. "They really just wanted to check on Hermione, anyway."
"Oh, come on Sirius even I would have gone after Lily in a situation like that" commented James, just as a crash was heard from within the house, where all the children happened to be.
They ran inside quickly and through the kitchen to the bottom of the stairs where they found Dan and Emma, unconscious next to each other.
"Oh, God what's happened!" Exclaimed Remus, going to lean down beside them with Sirius next to him.
"It's ok," Sirius said, checking their pulses "they're alive." he breathed to no one in particular but James, Lily, Lunette and Remus had already launched themselves up the stairs to see to their children in a panic.
"Sirius, get up here!" Shouted Remus, making him burst into action and dart up the stairs after them.
"Oh, no not Evie…" Whispered Sirius, racing up the stairs to the landing. Once there, he saw Remus looking over an unconscious Evie lying on the floor. "No, it can't be…" cried Sirius, quietly, rushing over to her. "Evie wake up for me, sweet heart. I'm sorry I didn't mean it, you need to be alive for our little one and for you. For me." Sirius knew she was alive but to him it was too good to be true and would appreciate his wife for the rest of his life, laying his head on her chest for a quick second.
"She's alive Sirius but if we don't help the others they won't be." replied Remus, quickly, gesturing the other rooms in the house.
"Where is he? Who tried to kill my wife!" Sirius shouted angrily, looking towards the crashes coming from the room to the right.
Sirius and Remus looked on with Lunette who had just appeared as they couldn't enter the small child's room at James and Lily who were stood in Harry's bedroom, trying to protect him from the numerous curses being shout at their son and themselves by Voldemort himself.
"Give it up Tom, you will never get past us to our son. I will die first!" Shouted James at him, whipping his wand at the dark lord with the spell being deflected easily.
"Very well," he replied, "but I do not comply to other's wishes..." The Dark Lord shot a powerful stunning spell at James that knocked him into a wall, causing a large dent and the house to shake.
"James!" Lily cried, thinking that her husband was dead. She stopped her onslaught while wondering where the others were and stood in front of her youngest, "Not Harry, not harry, please not Harry!"
"Stand aside, you silly girl...stand aside now!" Shouted Voldemort, steadily moving forwards.
"Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead..." Said Lily, crying heavily, "not Harry...please...have mercy...have mercy..." Then, ringing through the house, was the scream that would forever haunt little Harry's dreams, the sound of his mother getting hit with the killing curse.
Sirius, Remus and Lunette froze, knowing what that sound was and pounded on the ward surrounding the room and not allowing them to enter, only to see James and Lily, both unconscious on the floor, not knowing if they were alive or dead with their young nephew, Harry getting hit with Avada Kedarva right in front of them.
Not only was the event unexpected but as was the backlash afterwards, however, it did not affect Harry at all. It shot straight back at Voldemort killing him on the spot with a ghost of a smile on his face, an explosion in his wake that destroyed the whole house, rendering all inside unconscious and buried beneath tons of rubble.
1st November 1981 4:00am
Lunette woke up first with Remus and Sirius on either side of her, both unconscious in the garden of the cottage that stood destroyed in front of them with wizarding paramedics and a healer leaning over her and the two boys.
"What's happening? Where's my daughter? Luna…where is, where is she? I need to see her!" Shouted Lunette, wearily, rubbing her head in confusion, waking up Sirius and Remus in the process.
"The children are being looked after by another paramedic but all seem unscathed, except the youngest boy, he had an unusual shaped scar on his forehead, that, we were not able to remove but it has been dressed. But they are fine, what is important right now is that you need to calm down. It's not good for your baby and we need to check on it back at St Mungo's." A paramedic explained, putting a hand on her shoulder in the hope of reassurance which didn't go down too well with the three as the boys had just come around their senses and Lunette's worries.
"We will not calm down until we know that those children and our friends, along with my wife, are okay!" Sirius shouted, "Tell us who's alive and who's not... NOW!" The bustling garden stopped and heard the young man's demand, silence falling over the area surrounding them.
"Will someone tell us where they are?" continued Remus, getting up slowly and with pain, to search the vicinity himself for his only daughter and their friends.
"Mr. Lupin, it is unadvisable to be standing in your condition," demanded the Healer, "now, sit down before you do yourself more damage!" A storm was brewing inside Remus like never before as he got more and more angry because of the people around him and their apparent inability to let them do as they pleased in the back garden of a place they may as well call home, however much it had been destroyed. He knew he would not be able to hold in his anger for much longer, if not seconds.
"No! Do you not understand? We could have just lost all our friends and family! All that we have! I think I stand for Sirius and Lunette when I say that we will not sit and check our conditions until we see that they're alive and well!" Screamed Remus at the now small-looking healer, cowering in front of the tall, powerful wizard.
Lunette took his hand in hers to calm him while Sirius took over for them. "Now, show us to our family or I can make an equally effective storm that will last for days" warned Sirius, glaring seriously at the healer in front of him that felt the brunt of these two men's anger towards the workforce around them. Since the healer was now frozen into place, a paramedic tried to take over, however ineffective it would turn out to be.
"Right this way, Mr. and Mrs. Lupin, Mr. Black, I will take you to the children first." said the now cautious head paramedic, pointing off to the furthest of the garden away from the derelict cottage.
"Finally, someone who knows how to treat their patients, lead ahead before the wrackspursts attack your brain just like that healer." commented Lunette, raising her eyebrows at the healer who was now very confused. Warily, the paramedic led them to where the children were sitting, playing with some toys the healers had conjured for them so they could attend to the injured.
"Mama, Dada!" Called, their thirteen-month-old daughter, Luna who was waddling along towards Lunette and Remus as fast as her unsteady legs could carry her. She reached them and stood on tip toes touching her mother's belly. "Baba"
"Hello, Little Moony, have you been having fun with your cousins?" Remus asked, kneeling down next to his daughter. Lunette was much less calm.
"Are you alright? Did you get hurt? Any scratches or bruises?" Asked Lunette frantically, checking Luna then hugging her tightly against her.
"Aunt Lunette! We are fine!" Replied, a three-year-old Dori, patting her on the shoulder reassuringly.
"Yes, I was scared but something kept us safe." Charlie added, coming up next to his twin sister.
"Where Mummy and Daddy?" asked Harry and Hermione simultaneously, Hermione a little clearer with her words as the children surrounded them all concerned about their parents.
"We were just about to go see them and your Aunt Evie." said Sirius, leaning down to take the two of them in his arms, smiling at them, hoping they wouldn't sense his nerves. "Would you like us to come and get you to see them after we have?"
"Go now!" Harry replied, pushing away from him, sensing, when Sirius didn't want them to, that something was wrong and he channeled it into his anger and want to see his parents immediately.
"Harry, me, your Aunt and Uncle are going to go see them first, then come back to get you, okay?" Said Remus forcefully, hoping Harry would listen to them for once but he had always been very independent with Hermione beside him.
"I see them first!" Shouted Harry and in exactly the same moment, a thunder clap boomed and it started to rain, heavily. They all jumped and stared at Harry, who was quietly fuming and glaring at his Aunt and Uncle's when he suddenly disappeared in a flash of ruby red. The raw power that radiated off him, hit them when the thunder clap was heard, being felt again when lightning struck the huge lake that the house looked onto as he disappeared, shocking Sirius, Remus and Lunette into a stunned silence. But this was suddenly broken when thoughts were made into words.
"Where's he gone? If we've lost him James and Lily are going to kill us!" Stated Sirius, turning to Remus and Lunette. "He can't have disapperated, he's too young!"
"Where did he go then?" Asked Lunette, getting annoyed at Sirius as well as being stressed about the whole situation they seemed to be in. "We were looking straight at him and he vanished into thin air. If he didn't disapperate, where is he now?" While they were talking, Remus noticed a young little girl looking guilty and muttering to herself something that he couldn't quite hear.
"Hermione, if you want to help Harry can you tell me why you look so guilty right now?" Asked Remus, playing on the girl's guilty conscience that often annoyed Harry in their secret adventures. Hermione's head shot up and looked wide eyed at him, then she started shuffling where she sat and fussing and then she disappeared as well but with a flash of sapphire blue, also including a massive thunder clap and lightning strike once again.
'Not two in the space of five minutes, that's not possible' Remus thought to himself as he noticed that Lunette and Sirius were still arguing. He put his hand behind his head and made a worried face and interrupted them. "Guys, what if I told you we now have not one but two toddlers to find?" Both turned to look at him and shouted.
"What!" Then looked behind him and saw no Harry and no Hermione.
"How did I know that it would be Hermione that would disappear if Harry already had…" Sirius muttered, putting his head in his hands.
"That's not what matters right now, we just need to find where they are." admitted Lunette, looking around the bustling garden and instead of seeing them, they heard someone shout to them from the area nearer to the house.
"We have two toddlers here bawling their eyes out over the four de…adults, do they happen to be their children?" They called as even more healers jogged to the area that before was empty.
Remus, Lunette and Sirius all looked at each other and went to jog over to the sound of crying children but not before both Dori and Charlie got the chance to shout at them as well.
"Mummy and Daddy are hurt!" they both screamed, standing up and running towards the sounds of crying their brother and cousin.
"At least they didn't just disappear into thin air like the other two" Sirius commented, as they ran over, following Dori and Charlie to see their friends, trying to catch them up so they didn't get their before they did.
On arrival, they looked down at them. James looked the worse off out of the four of them because of his trip into the wall but was as unconscious as the others. But Lily, Emma and Dan all looked like they were just peacefully asleep with a few cuts and bruises from the fall but nothing too major. But the two toddlers leaning over them were the source of distress to the three adults. They both looked the most distraught they had ever been in their short lives, crying buckets in the pouring rain as they hit their parent's chests in an effort to wake them up but there was no moving them. They were gone.
Then, the strangest thing happened. Harry sat straight up, completely still for one of the only times in his life. He appeared to be listening to someone or something intently and trying not to miss a word; his eyes glazed over from extreme concentration. Suddenly it disappeared and he looked upset again but shook his head quickly and it changed into determination.
"'Mione, copy." Harry ordered and he put both of his hands on his parent's hearts, carefully, finger by finger, closing his eyes like he was feeling ever movement. Hermione copied this to the exact detail but with her parents and it looked like they were having a conversation between themselves without words as they shook and nodded their heads every so often.
"What's happening?" questioned Sirius and being the logical one Remus answered.
"I have no idea..."
The events continued for a few minutes until it looked like they had come to a conclusion, both nodding definitively and gently pushed Dori and Charlie away and into the arms of Lunette and Remus, with what appeared to be the force from that film Lily had forced them all to watch after she went to see it with her sister.
When they were at a safe distance the events that transpired would be talked about for years in their oddly even family. A protective layer formed around the pair and their parents and they replaced their hands-on James, Lily, Emma and Daniel's chests and very slowly started to glow, Harry glowing red and Hermione glowing blue, just as before. This experience had only been witnessed once before in an age thousands of years ago, that no one could remember or recollect.
Everything had stopped in the scene that was once chaos around the decimated cottage and healers and wizarding paramedics stood staring, again, open-mouthed at these two young children showing extremely powerful, off the charts, magic. All of a sudden, three of the four patients sat bolt upright knocking their now weak children away by accident but one of the four was still down but restless and wheezing heavily. Lily.
"Mama, need more help!" Harry exclaimed, starting to glow red again and shouting to anyone who could hear, "Mama need help, NOW!" He rattled the earth so much it felt like there was an earthquake and everyone was once again looking at him and their little group.
A healer approached them sadly as the young boy screamed. She had been the one who looked them over had decided that Lily had died from the killing curse and that the other three were so close to death that is was kinder to let them slip away so was a little surprised when he saw six fully grown adults that appeared to be fine, three seemed slightly exhausted but other than that fine. She spotted a wheezing Lily immediately and set back the fact that she'd been pronounced dead and jumped back into action.
"Give her some space!" the healer called as she rushed forwards and leant down next to her patient, with Harry close beside her and James cradling her head with no chance of either of them moving when she asked.
"I am not leaving her side again." James said pointedly, giving her a look that told her not to deny him that.
"Don't get in the way then" said the healer, "Lily, can you hear me, squeeze my hand if you can?" She didn't expect anything significant but she still took her hand lightly and waited a few seconds and asked again. Then suddenly she gasped, "Merlin! It's a miracle, she was dead." She muttered under her breath. She bought another hand to Lily's and squeezing back before getting her wand out. Shocking everyone around her, she cast a diagnostics spell and then cast the charms to make her better which were a lot simpler than she had imagined. Lily then shot up right like her husband and best friends but in a lot more of a panic.
"Where's Harry! Oh, merlin, is he ok? Somebody answer me!" Lily shouted, a similar trait they all shared that night.
"Lily, calm down, he's..." James didn't get to finish though as his wife turned her head and found her husband behind her, the one she thought was long gone and threw her arms around him, kissing him like she would never do so again.
"Oh, James, you're alive, I can't believe it...you died..." she then started crying, heavily, while throwing herself into his shouldering hugging him tightly with Harry, Charlie and Dori coming up behind her and cuddled her. At this, she turned and looked at her three children with red puffy eyes.
"Oh Charlie, Dori, my little darlings, I didn't check on you two." with a very loud sob she continued, "I'm a terrible mother!" Watching the family moment, Lunette, holding Luna, Remus, Dan and Emma with Hermione in their arms and Sirius on the edge looking in, they realised that someone was missing.
"Where's Evie?" Asked Lunette warily. Sirius had already noticed this and had a look of anger and fear in his eyes when he looked around and couldn't see her.
"Where's. My. Wife." Sirius said trying to keep calm but that was never going to last long. A healer turned towards him feeling the amount of anger and power radiating off him.
"Your wife is over there getting...treatment. She is in good hands and we'll call you when a healer is ready to explain the situation." he answered. While he was talking, he pointed a bed with Evie lying on it, healers all around her, moving frantically. They all went wide eyed at what they saw but most importantly, Sirius got angrier.
"I am going to go see my wife and unborn child, right now and no one is going to stop me." Sirius replied just as a small fire started at the feet of the healer who had told them the news. It was big enough for him to jump back and stare at Sirius in shock, wondering who could have the power to do such a thing. Silently, Sirius thanked Harry for his help as he must have noticed Sirius' distress at the sight of his wife's condition. He wasn't going to let anyone hold him back and this ensured no one would get in his way.
Sirius ran over to the tent to see what they were doing with his wife but as he got closer, the healers around Evie, who hadn't seen what had just happened due to Harry, formed a barrier between Sirius and Evie. But as Sirius got closer they could also feel the anger and power radiating off him and began to get worried, backing away from him carefully.
"Excuse me sir, but we can't let you past," said a healer, carefully, "it's for her own sake."
"Tell me what you're doing to her before I get truly angry!" Shouted Sirius with a slightly less angry Lunette and Remus behind him just after leaving Luna in Emma's arms for a while. Remus thought about holding his arm but he was worried about Evie just as much as he was so would let his abruptness slide for now. Another Healer stepped up with an air of confidence and authority, standing in front of them and looking down upon them, the first person who could really stand up to them
"Sir, your wife is ill and to help save her and your child, you need to calm down and let us do our job. Alright?" Said the head healer, pointing his finger at them and stepping forward to force them to take a few steps back.
"Fine, but tell me what's going on. She's my wife carrying our only child." Sirius replied, calming down in the presence of someone who was likely to know what was going on with everyone.
"Because of your wife's condition, it is safest for you to stay here so we can assess her without any interferences. There was an unknown curse put on her and because of the unknown nature of the curse, we need to get your baby out before it gets affected by it. Our focus is on Genevieve but if we can do our job with both your wife and child we will have them back to you as soon as possible. Your child will be placed into the maternity unit at St Mungo's while your wife recovers. Now, step back and let my healers do their work." The head healer turned and headed back into the fray as another healer came up to stay with them. Remus concluded that they now were being babysat as they caused enough trouble for them when they had work to do. It was when Sirius then turned back to the other healer and approached him like the entitled pureblood he was when they first met.
"As the only person who can speak to a relative of a patient like a normal wizard who isn't stupid, that healer is going to be assigned to my wife and child from now on." Sirius stated, looking down at the young healer.
"Sir, Mr. Thistlewood chooses who he works with. There's nothing I can do to change that." apologized the healer.
"Do you know who I am?" Asked Sirius. Lunette could see steam coming out of his ears. "I am Head of the most Ancient and Noble House of Black, and that entitles me to choose who attends to my wife and child, is that clear?" He stood over the young healer as she shuffled away in the direction of the head healer as he glared at her. Lunette stepped in front of him and he took a step back.
"Sirius, stop being such a blibbering humdinger. You are not your father. I understand that Evie's not in a good way but don't make it worse for the healers. They are only doing as they're told." Lunette said, making him feel bad and putting his hand through his hair out of embarrassment. He hadn't acted in such a manner in a long time and it all came rushing back when he was stressed out but he was still annoyed and it didn't get better when the head healer did come back with a grim look on his face.
"Mr. Black, I've been led to understand that you think flashing your name about in a time of crisis will get you what you ask for. Instead of doing what you think is right, might I suggest you trust the professionals and all will be well in the end. I trust my healers and it is purely coincidence that I am working on your wife's case because of the serious aspect of it. So, leave us to are work. I won't tell you again." It was clear he was used to this kind of thing and had meant it to be forceful not disrespectful but it didn't mean that Sirius wasn't annoyed by it.
He watched Mr. Thistlewood walk away again and cursed him under his breath for being the only person apart from Evie who could actually get him to listen. He was seething that everyone was telling him to do nothing when all he wanted to do was be there for his wife. Stand by her side and hold her hand. Lunette, seeing that Sirius was going to explode any second came forward put her hands on his shoulders to steady him.
"Sirius, pull yourself together." She said, slapping him lightly to get him to pay attention, "Soon you will have the responsibility of a new born child on your hands, concentrate on that." She tried to smile but she was pretty sure it came out more like a grimace but it did the trick as it helped him come to the realisation that his firstborn child would come into the world very soon.
Remus let out a sigh at the practically hopeless situation it seemed to be glancing at his wife who he could see was upset as well but dealt with it better than his best friend did. Lunette shook her head and grabbed both of their arms to return to the others and the children while Sirius grumbled to himself.
"What's going on?" Emma questioned being the more aware one of the two healers in the group.
Lunette answered this knowing Sirius might not be able to get it out without some slip up, "We went to see Evie..." She started, explaining the problem as best she could. As indicated before the story started, the group didn't know whether to be concerned for Evie or excited for the new member to be added to their family very soon. The silence that followed was respected by those surrounding them from aurors investigating the disturbance and explosion and healers who were still baffled by the lack of injuries that the group had from a destroyed house standing in the background. The only noise came from further away and neighbours being held back by police and aurors, trying to find out what was going on. They didn't know what to do but wait.
The air was electric with magic and power around the makeshift family because of the huge amount of magical energy that they all held. When a group of young adults and children were silent in contemplation, it was an odd sight; together with the air around them any healer who tried to get their attention would be slightly scared.
"Head Healer Thistlewood would like to see you, milord" a junior healer interrupted nervously, looking around the group for Sirius.
"Is it about Evie?" asked Dan, trying to stand up as the uninjured rushed forward. The four that were revived still felt precious so Emma pulled him back down.
"Are you Lord Black?" He asked, glancing at Emma who held his hand and frowned at his rudeness.
"Do I look like Lord Black?" Dan replied, sarcastically.
"I am only aloud to take family members to see Lady Black" He said, looking at the men in front of him, one of which happened to be Sirius, who had already been struggling to withhold his dramatic emotions.
"Just take me to see my wife" He sighed, clenching his fists as he walked straight past the healer knocking his shoulder as he went. The junior healer just shuffled after him, sheepishly while Remus, James and Dan looked at him then at each other then laughed at his attempt to be tough while being the one of the weakest healers they'd come across that day. They were used to being within the hospital, so it wasn't unexpected for them to be unprepared in the field, that didn't mean they could be unprofessional about it.
While Sirius was with Evie, the group entertained the children as much as they could on a cold November morning while they were undoubtedly tired and bored of sitting in a garden. But the parents were just happy to be there with their children when they could so easily have lost everything and never seen them again. It wasn't more evident the restlessness amongst the children than when an Auror rushed by but had to stop and bend over howling with laughter, beginning for an invisible person to stop. Everyone immediately turned to the two little children with the awe-inspiring abilities.
"Harry, Hermione what have you done to that poor young man?" Lily smiled, not being able to help but giggle only with the toddlers at his movements
"Mama, he need tickles" Harry giggled, covering his mouth, sheepishly.
"He needed to be happier." Hermione laughed, pushing Harry's side lightly.
They were still giggling in the aftermath of this incident as the man had walked off looking around him suspiciously but soon Sirius arrived with a white bundle in his arms as he walked slowly towards them, mesmerized by the life he held near to him. Everyone looked up at him expectantly until he realised he'd arrived and spoke with a smile, the first genuine sign of happiness after the events.
"Everyone, may I introduce our firstborn son into the family, Samuel 'Padfoot' Black, until me and Evie have the chance to name him properly together" Lily and Emma had managed to stand up with help and surround him with Lunette, even with their husbands protesting at their movements so soon after the healing process had begun.
"He's so sweet, welcome to the family, little Sammy boy," Emma cooed, tickling his little stomach wrapped up as he dozed quietly in his father's arms.
"Your Mummy loves you very much and will see you very soon." Lunette told the new baby boy, smiling at the new hope within the family to take care of after so long in hiding.
"Are you sure you're supposed to name him before Evie gets a chance to see him, I don't think she is going to agree to his middle name being Padfoot?" Said Lily, logically, looking between father and son.
"Charlie's middle names 'Prongs' and you allowed that. It is now tradition that every first-born son of the Marauder's has their father's marauder name as their middle name!" Sirius argued, quietly so as not to disturb the new baby.
"Oh, good one, Sirius, now you've set the path for both Remus and Dan to have to do it" laughed James at his best friend's reasoning. It had taken him a long time to even convince Lily to let him, eventually agreeing on the fact it was a part of him as Lillian, which was Dori's middle name, was to her. He didn't know that though, he just knew the end of the story.
"Not gonna complain about that! I don't know about Maximillian Blackstar Granger but I'll go with it" Dan laughed, looking at Emma for approval who just raised her eyebrows and scoffed at her husband.
"We are not going to name our son Maximillian and how do you even know we're going to have another child" said Emma sternly. This certainly stirred a reaction between all the children old enough to understand what was happening.
"But I want a brother or sister" started Hermione, latching onto her mother's arm who was surprised any of them were listening when they could have been playing.
"Yeah, Mama you're going to have another baby, aren't you?" asked Dori, not knowing the implication of what she had said, making Lily smile at her only daughter.
"Well, my sweet, another few children couldn't hurt could it." Lily said, grinning and looking at James out of the corner of her eye who was in shocked silence.
"Dori, Charlie, Harry, another one? Two?" He mumbled to himself, trying to think it all the way through and coming up with few conclusions which was obvious to the group who laughed at him.
"Okay, he's in a never-ending cycle that we need to get him out of." Sirius stated, placing baby Sam in Lunette's arms, "Marauder's assemble!" And suddenly Sirius turned into Padfoot, a grim, a big black dog looking like the sign of death, but friendlier with shiny black fur and looking like it's grinning, then Dan turning into 'Blackstar' a massive stallion with brown fur and white socks and a white patch on his head and a black star in the middle with a mischievous look in his eyes. Remus turned into Moony a big werewolf lookalike but smaller and more wolf like with light brown fur all over with sharp teeth showing in a grin. And, to the amusement of everyone else, James turned into Prongs unknowingly until he stood as a huge stag with massive antlers and a deep red all over but instead of bearing his teeth like the others he was glaring at Padfoot knowing it would have been him and turning back straight away into his human form.
"Alright, alright, my attention is back on you, panic over." said James sarcastically, taking a seat next to Lily, his arm behind her back as he snuggled in but Sirius was already on to something else or you could say someone else. Padfoot had two slings put around him by Lunette and Baby Sam and Luna in each running around the area kept clear for the family while aurors kept a look out on everything and healers tended to Evie.
Hermione and Harry had been placed on Blackstar's back while he galloped around taking off around the lake at top speed while Dori and Charlie were chasing Moony around playfully as well. Lily, Emma and Lunette looked around at their family all together. In moments like this, where the happiness was obvious, you couldn't help but think of a life possible without the threat of war and violence that came with Voldemort's presence in society. They just needed to know, for sure, if he was gone from their lives or not, if they could move on from this part of their lives.
After a good few minutes of everyone ignoring the devastation around them and just enjoying themselves, another junior healer made their way over with a grim expression which turned into a smile when he saw the scene of a family which had just gone through the worst experience he could think of, who were just ignoring it, for now at least, and having fun and trying to enjoy themselves with most probably some conjured animals. It looked so happy he didn't want to interrupt but Head Healer Thistlewood had told him to go get Lord Black.
"Excuse me, I'm looking for Lord Black. Do you know..." He stopped in shock, standing wide eyed and gaping at Padfoot who had just turned back into the Lord Black he was looking for right in front of his eyes with Sam and Luna placed in Emma and Lunette's arms in the process as he went back into the concerned husband mode.
"Yes, yes, dog to human, get over it." He brushed off, "Is my Evie ok?" Said Sirius worriedly while the healer was still getting around what he'd just seen, shaking his head abruptly in the end.
"Um...yes, sorry. Follow me" He gestured behind him and they walked away before returning quickly with the Head Healer with him.
"Everyone, listen up, we are taking all of you back to St Mungo's now." started Dr Thistlewood, which got him the reaction he'd expected, one of anger and confusing for all sides, so he lifted his hands to quieten them again. "Wait and listen. Even though young Mr. Potter and Miss. Granger seem to have healed you all very well and your all talking and acting like yourselves, we don't actually know what they did and how long it will last. Also, we've not had a chance to give the rest of you checkups. So, after you have all been cleared and tested at the hospital, you may be discharged but for now, to be on the safe side, you are coming with us and that's final." He stood with his arms folded and a stern look on his face but none of the group were listening because of the commotion made by their friend behind him.
Right in the middle of his little speech, or you could say rant, that had them all silenced. The final person of the group, Diana Spencer, arrived running through the aurors who were keeping some of the Godric's hollow residents out, who would later be revealed as press who were interested in the momentous disturbance that would match the random attacks that had been going on in the country.
Diana had glamoured herself so she was able to get through underneath the crowd and just managed to get around the aurors before they spotted her and came running after her. When she reached them, she ran and stopped behind the healer she did not know and listened to him talk to her friends in a manor she hadn't heard from a medical professional before.
"...so, after you have all been cleared and tested you may be discharged but for now, to be on the safe side, you are coming to the hospital and that's final!" After he had finished his speech and he was sufficiently confused as to why the group were smiling instead of glaring at him, she tapped him on the shoulder and drew her wand. As he turned around he saw a girl he didn't recognise use the 'finite incantatum!' and turn into Diana Spencer.
"What are you doing speaking to my friends like that? They've been through a traumatic experience and don't need the likes of you making it worse. " Questioned Diana, glaring at Louis who was still just staring at the famous witch.
While he was staring at her, not knowing how to respond, the aurors caught up with her so she skipped around him, rolling her eyes at his inability to speak, and into the arms of three of her best friends with Remus giving the aurors a wave to go away.
"Is everyone alright? I'm so annoyed that I wasn't here!" He cried, squeezing her friends as tightly as she could.
"It's fine. No one died and you have other responsibilities even if you don't enjoy them, they have to be done." Lily smiled, looking into her friend's face and seeing the unhappiness behind the worry she was showing them.
"The sooner this guy come's along the better, I say. It'll have a better life away from him and his family and with us." She smiled, sadly, thinking of a life after all the pressures she had in it now.
She was rather big for three months along so she held it as all the kids clambered around them with Luna, with the help of Remus, walked slowly towards them and hugged them with the boys around them back of them.
"We're all alive and back together, now we just need to focus on Evie." stated James, giving them all a tingly feeling inside, thinking about a life outside of hiding and back to normal for finally normal for the kids.
"Now that your little family reunion is ..." Louis couldn't get them to leave once again when he was silenced by a half-giant shocked at the people standing and chatting in front of him. He'd never experienced a family this diverse in his life.
"James, Lily you're alive. It's a miracle!" Shouted Rubeus Hagrid coming up behind the group, tearing up but smiling at the scene.
"Yes, Rubeus but so is everybody else. Not to be rude at all but why are you here? We've not seen you since Hogwarts really." Asked Lily, confused at the intrusion of a man they didn't know that well except from at a few Order meetings over the past few years. That should have been her first clue.
"Dumbledore told me that you, along with little Charlie and Dori here, had been killed and I was to fetch young Harry to him" Hagrid said, innocently tapping Harry's head as he watched the big man he'd only met for short periods of time. James and Lily looked at each other then at Rubeus, not knowing why he would assume such a terrible thing.
Sirius was about to ask the question on everyone's tongues when Head Healer Thistlewood put his foot down.
"Sorry but this will have to wait, we have to go...now!" shouted Louis clearly getting frustrated and taking out various objects from his pockets to hand to the adults. "Use these port keys, no more than four to a port key. Evie has already gone so hurry up we are running extremely late!" He sighed heavily and got out his own, turning to the woman that already intrigued him from what he'd heard when listening to the groups dynamic. He offered it to her with a charming smile making her blush like no one had done in a long time, not even her husband, however unlikely it may seem but she knew better than to just crumble and replied with her own, vowing to surprise I man who had her tingle, no matter the consequences on a night like this.
"Well, if I must" she smirked and hurled herself at him, threw her arms around his neck and kissed him full on the lips as they port keyed away.
"Still Diana Spencer even when pregnant and married." commented Emma, shaking her head, making sure her group had a part of a port key before activating it Dan, Hermione and Harry disappearing along with her.
"It will be the nargles but you should speak to her, Remus." said Lunette, dreamily, as Remus and Diana had been close in school. She was holding the port key for herself, Remus and Luna and activated it for them, sending them to the hospital.
"See you in a min, Sirius" said James holding Charlie and Lily holding Dori and with a twist of their navels, they were gone as well.
"Just you and me now, cub." He whispered to Sam, "Let's go see mummy." He smiled as best he could and activated the final portkey to the hospital.
Did you enjoy it! Hope so!
