Rob and Laura were at a restaurant in New York City, one summer evening. Just as they were leaving, an unexpected storm came up. There wasn't much thunder or lightning, but it rained heavily.
They stood at the restaurant exit for a bit.
"I wish I could've found a closer parking spot," said Rob.
"Well, you did what you could. This is a Saturday evening in New York.
"Hey, Laura, I've got a wild idea!"
"What's that?"
"Remember when we walked in the rain, after our date at the GI club?"
"Yes. Oh, Rob, we were in our early 20's, then!"
"So, that doesn't mean we can't do it again, just because we're older."
"But. . . this dress!"
"I'll pay for your dry cleaning bill, if you'd like."
"Well. . . OK, I'm game. Let me take my shoes off, first." She did this, and picked them up. "Wish I wasn't wearing these stockings! OK, let's go."
They walked outside. Laura was a little skittish at first, but as she got wetter, that went away. They walked slowly, letting the rain soak them. The streets had become mini-creeks. Rob knelt down and with his hands he splashed water on Laura! She smiled and kicked water back at him!
"I'm singin' in the rain!"
She giggled. "Rob!"
Finally, they got to their car. They got in and drove home.
The rain slacked off a bit, by the time they got there. They got out and went in the house.
"Stay right where you are, Rob."
"All right."
He stood on the front rub, while she walked away. She came back with towels. They dried themselves off.
He slipped his shoes off, on the rug. "I probably should've taken my shoes off at the restaurant, like you did."
"Yes, you should've, Rob! Take your socks off, too."
"OK."
He took his sopping socks off, and she took her sopping stockings off. Then she put her arms around him.
"Rob, I must admit, that was fun and romantic."
They hugged and kissed.
"But let's not do that again, for a while!"
He laughed. "Fair enough!"
They went to the bedroom together.
