this is a one part short story I wrote about Elena and Damon. Pretend there are still looking for the cure and btw Elena is a vampire by this point.
~~~~~~on a cold night with the sky full of stars~~~~~~~~~
"You ready to hit the hot tub?" Damon gives a devious smile. "I thought you'd never ask." Damon leads us out to a gloriously huge backyard that spans in every direction with emerald rolling lawns. A cabana sits tucked close to the house with an expansive patio around it, and nestled in the middle is an oversized hot tub. In the distance, a trail of bright green lights blink on and off under a juniper tree and it takes a moment to register what they are. "Look!" I marvel. "Fireflies." Damon says. Damon turns on the lights to the hot tub, and the water glows a glacial blue. "How magical." I joke as I slip in the hot tub. "Elena, you're magical." Damon says as he plants a kiss on my forehead. I start to blush. Great. "I wish I didn't take so long for me to realize I loved you. I guess when you tired to kill everyone I got scared." I say. But I instantly regret it, today was supposed to be fun. Not depressing. "I was trying to numb the pain." His eyes cloud over with grief. "But with you, there's no more pain to numb. You wiped it away that first day I met you, and I couldn't explain it. I knew I needed you in my life." Damon says not taking his gorgeous brown eyes off of me. "Sorry for saying that." I say as I sink in the water more. "No it's not your fault. That's one of the reasons why I love you. You have the ability to pull me out of the pit, and you don't even know it." He presses another kiss to my lips, "Just when I'm about to go under, you pull me out. Not any one of those girls I've been with before had the ability to do that. They were just taking up space, while I tried to hide my feelings." His eyes dance over mine as a moment of silence ticks by. "I thought for so long I didn't deserve anyone. I figured if I satisfied my itch that would be all I'd ever need—all I could ever really have. I didn't want to ruin anybody's life." His eyes fill with tears, and he blinks them away. We've crossed that invisible line, and I'm about to lose him again, so I reel him back in.
"Damon, you deserve everything that life has to offer, especially love. especially the love of a very special someone. I hope I can be that someone for you." "You already are." Damon's arms collapse around my back as he holds me tight. "And I wouldn't want to share my life with anyone else. just you, Elena. I mean it." Damon pulls me in by the face and lands a kiss over my lips, slow and sweet. It then slowly grows and before I know it I'm on his lap kissing him, every second harder and more passionate. We break away for a second and Damon's husky voice fills my senses. "I want you Elena, forever." I reply out of breath, "Luckily for us forever is a long time."
