Believe it or not I didn't expect this to come out of my original plot idea... It just kinda took is own life as I started to write... It was interesting to write... It's not very long but it gives a different perspective on something...

Clearly this isn't relevant to the manga or the anime but that's what Fanfic is for isn't it? To let the imagination run free?

I'll disclaim this to. I do not own nor will I ever own Naruto...

"Grow up dope."

"Naruto... seriously. Grow up."

"You will never learn if you don't grow."

"Nee. Dickless even I can see your childish."

"Naruto-kun...Why?"

"Naruto. Grow up. He isn't coming back."

"Naruto... You gotta stop doing this. Grow up some... Maybe you'd understand."

His whole life he heard grow up. They never asked him why.

No. He understood the only reason he still did it was because it was normal for him. Being childish ment not having responsiblity. Something he was scared of. Something he should have learned.
Something his father should have taught him. Glancing up he stared at the monument with wonder. How did he not know his father was a Kage?

He stared scared to death at the stone curious if his father was disappointed with him. He was even more curious if his mother was. Surely she had to be. Her son was almost twenty and still acted like he was five.

Five...

That was the age he wanted to be and stay. He knew growing up meant that he had to learn new things. Like to be mature and to not be as silly. He knew that. At age five.
Smiling slightly as he thought to himself. Despite his actions he really was mature. He hid the maturity away and replaced it with the immaturity wanting to keep himself from changing. From becoming like Sasuke.

He didn't like compairing what he could be to his brother. But that was what he would be. Unsocial.
The thought had crossed his mind many times as he laid awake at night. But he decided that it wasn't worth it. He was known to be loud and obnoxious. That was his trade mark. Letting himself change so drastically over night would raise questions.

Slowly he matured to them. When all along he was mature. He knew Sasuke was gone. He knew that a long time ago. Then when they found him. He acted as if he didn't know Sasuke would be executed. When he did 'find out' he had a fit. Just like the predicted they would.

He knew Hinata's crush on him. He truely did know. He just chose to pretend to love Sakura. Because he knew Sasuke loved her back. Once Sasuke was gone all he could do was love Sakura. But like a sister.

His maturity was a lot higher than they thought. The day he was appointed the newest Hokage he showed them. For once he was still and quiet. He spent his first day celebrating. But not like they expected. He hid up in the monument near his father's face. He talked to it. As if his father would respond.

He showed his maturity. He confused them. They elected him Hokage just so he'd shut up. They never realized he'd actually take on the task of Hokage. The paper work, meetings, the executions of missing-nin's.

They didn't expect him to be like this.

Five...

That's all he ever wanted to be. Was five. He accomplished that fifteen years ago. He wanted to keep that mentatily. Not to care about a thing in the world. But he showed them he knew how to be mature.

He comforted Sakura on the day of Sasuke's death anniversiy. He let her cry into him. His arms stayed around her until she asked for him to let go.

He loved Hinata with everything he had. Marrying her after proving he could hold a inteligent conversation with her father to prove himself.

He declared Sasuke's birthday as actually holiday. (The last Uchiha Birth.)

They didn't know. They just didn't.

He was that grown up.

Amusing how something so short can be so powerful.
