Title: Intangible (Invisible)
Character/Pairing/Group: Ruka, Rua
Prompt: Prompt 024 – Non Verbal Communication
Rating: G – cute sibling fluff.
Genre: Family
Pairing: N/A
Summary: Sometimes, words are just simply unneeded to convey what you feel.
Notes: This was written in five minutes, because I was simply bored. So do excuse any and all errors. It's been a long time since I've watched or read DM/GX/5D's, so characterization might be off. However from what I remember, I do know that Ruka is braver compared to her brother so she probably wouldn't be afraid of a thunderstorm, but everyone has their weakness and Rua needs to shine once in a while, no? Despite that, I'm setting this a few years pre-series just in case, but it may generally fit in anywhere.
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 5D's and this is a non-profit document.
Edits: Fixed a single spelling error I spotted while reading this on my iPhone :). (Somehow I can only check through using mobile devices instead of my laptop itself.)
The sky was dark, blanketed with thick, looming clouds forming in the horizon. Ruka gulped and clutched her blanket tighter, a trickle of cold sweat trailing from her forehead.
She hated storms, they disturbed her greatly. Why oh why did it have to come now of all times?
Cringing at the lightning, – a telltale sign of thunder, definitely – she screwed her eyes shut and covered her ears tightly, waiting for the inevitable...
VRROOOM...
She whimpered. Silently she wished for Kuribon or Regulus, but they were all asleep at this time and there was no way she was going to disturb their much needed rest just because of this stupid... fear of hers.
Just then, the door to her room opened – slowly and softly, so as to not alarm her – and in popped the head of Rua. He eyed Ruka – who was sitting on the bed – with wide amber eyes, and slowly made his way to the windows, drawing the curtains silently before turning to walk to his sister.
Clutching Ruka's shaky hands in his, he smiled at her and Ruka smiled back, hesitation slowly dissipating.
There was never a need to say a single word, for her brother always knew.
Owari.
A/N: Fluff, I just wrote fluff. My goodness! After so much angst and tragedies from Naruto I finally wrote something cute and fluffy. (Perhaps it's due to TeniPuri? That isn't angst at all.) Exactly 200 words (according to MSWord word count) as well, that's… quite an accomplishment, for me who simply can't write anything short.
I can bet that this A/N is going to be longer than the ficlet above.
Anyway, I actually completed a YGO!-related fic/ficlet of mine (ignoring those which I've written for gx_100 but not completed because it's getting very long and difficult to write), HALLELUJAH! However, I'm not sure if I'll be actively working on the challenges I took up because my interest no longer lies with YGO. (I simply got tired of 5D's halfway and completely stopped watching after Zone revealed himself to Yusei, however I am pissed that Zone isn't Yusei. That completely destroys what I had in mind.)
But rest assured! I'll finish them (all four of them)… Someday.
For those who are interested (though I doubt anyone will be), my other claim for this challenge is Izayoi Aki (with as little Faithshipping as possible as I don't exactly favour that pairing, but it's impossible to write Aki without mentioning Yusei, so…) and my two claims for gx_100 are Spiritshipping (Johan/Juudai) and Fusionshipping (Ryou/Juudai).
Okay, now that I'm done with my ranting, I'd like to state that this A/N is really longer than the fic itself but do forgive me. I promise lesser talk and more productive words from now on.
By the way, could anyone tell that the title(s) was/were derived from the abuse of a thesaurus? I really suck at titles :(.
