Truths

'You're hiding from yourself.'

'And you're jonesing for your best friend,' retorted 13.

That made House stop. It wasn't just a verbal pause. He stopped all over, freezing into stillness. A rare but small smile curled 13's lips. She'd hit bone. House's eyes turned dark.

'What?' she asked casually. Normally 13 didn't enjoy playing games. In fact, she told the brutal truth to shut House up with his games. This though… it was a little too sweet not to.

'Unfounded gossip can be so hurtful,' House declared, all traces of his momentary lapse wiped away. He was going on the offensive defence.Nothing wrong here.

'Unfounded?' she snorted. 'Besides, I'm not repeating gossip. Just saying is all. He's straight. You're not. It'd almost be tragic if I gave a damn.'

'You can prove nothing.'

13 rolled her eyes and left him to it. She'd been through her denial stage long ago. She hoped she hadn't been like that. That was just embarrassing.
