Ok here is probably one of many ATU drabble oneshots. This particular one is one of many novelized versions of the final scene, and a little more of course. With as many song references aside from the obvious one, thrown in for good measure. And beware…I'm feeling sappy

Jude stood alone on an empty rooftop.

There were so many things he wanted to say only he wasn't sure he could.

Then he stepped up to the mike and began to sing

There's nothing you can do that can't be done

It's easy

He was singing to Lucy. He wanted her to still love him, to still need him…as much as he needed and loved her.

He was soon joined by his friends…he smiled a little on the inside for this. After all like Max once said…

'I get by with a little help from my friends'

From a couple blocks away the song could be heard, everyone could hear. he needed only one person to hear

And it was.

Lucy stopped in her tracks and slowly turned in the direction of the song.

It couldn't be…

Jude was gone for good…deported…and probably happier for it…how could he be here?

She listened to that beautiful voice and knew he was.

Did he still care about her? Was he singing for her?

All she knew was she needed to see him and she took off running towards the building

It won't be long, 'till I belong to you'

She reached the building which was surrounded by people and she pushed her way through. She needed to see Jude, see if it was really him…and if he still wanted her.

The place was surrounded by police! They wouldn't let her in. she looked around for…something…anything. She spotted the neighboring building.

Perfect

Jude had stopped singing…he was stupid to think that she still cared…or that she could somehow hear him from wherever she was. It was good of Max to try and help but it was useless. He looked at his friend sadly…only to see him staring at something behind him.

He turned and he saw her.

She loves you yayaya

Love is all you need

They both ran for the stairs of their buildings and sprinted down. Jude took the steps two at a time with Max following close behind.

They both pushed through the crowds with single-minded determination until they were face to face. They stood there for a moment unsure of what to do. Then in unison they wrapped their arms around each other in a tight embrace. Neither wanted to separate having missed this feeling more they can they could say.

Finally they let go of each other…

"Hey Jude" Lucy murmured. Jude gently placed his hand on her cheek

"Hello my Lucy in the sky" he whispered.

Max had watched this touching reunion in silence up until then. He even watched their kissing in silence. That says a lot for an older brother.

He went over and put his arms around them

"come on kids save the lovemaking for indoors" that made them all laugh as went on their way

"mmm I need somebody to love" Max said mournfully.

Lucy and Jude looked at him grinning

It would always be like this

and that was the way it should be.

The way they let it be.
