Thor's Soliloquy

Odin's lost orb! That I should slit his gizzard!
What good is a god's wrath, if it not grant this boon -
To lay a wyrd upon wolf-siring Loki, Who did so callously
act against kinship's duty! In truth, Loki has no honor.
His guilt is bound to trap him! But to say I should slay him in combat?
Calumny!
Would not his passing kill Frigga, who brought us comfort, if not birth?
Should not sons bring joy, and comfort in kind?
To us it was said, stand tall, sword-bright, fair and just.
But now, I must call Loki "traitor"? My mind will not know it.
Still I call him 'kin', and wait for his turning, toward us, toward right.

A/N: I had great ambitions to include stabreim in this, which started out as a paragraph but morphed into a poem. It would be the proper Old Norse thing to do, so I threw it in where I could, but I didn't follow the pattern strictly. Still I did throw in a kenning!
