Rules Of Existence
Author: Music Summery: Jesse and the little rules that let him get through his day. Disclaimer: I don't own The Mediator that's the property of Jenny Carroll AKA Meg Cabot. Author's Note: This is my first foray into the semidark! Fanfiction world and boy can I tell you that compared to everything else out there it isn't dark at all! Well, it dark for me and it's my newborn fic-baby so treat it with gentleness when you review. I do have to say that while the story deals with ghostly masturbation in one wee little part, all whips and chains are left at home, thank you. (Well, not at my home. Oh, bugger. I just keep digging a deeper pit for myself don't I?)
You must remember at all times that you are dead. Your heart does not beat. Your feet are not solid upon the floor. Heat and cold are nothing to you. Love and lust are denied you.
You must remember that you can not, will not think of the young, female mediator when you revisit the human pleasure that young living human males enjoy so much. Recently, this young dead male enjoys it a bit too much. But, even as this is so you must keep your mind blank as you reach desperately for humanity. Yours is a lonely existence and so it will be a lonely release.
You will not touch her. She is young. More importantly she is alive. She should not find herself be bound to ghostly flesh like your own. Do not engage in unnecessary contact, physical or other. It will only create more problems later.
You must remember that privacy is sacred. She is definitely untitled to her own for she respects yours most of the time so you will respect hers. Do not watch her. Do not try to divulge information. Going begging to the Padre is also not an option.
You also must never fantasize about what could be. What is, is. She cannot be the daughter of a rancher back during your living existence. Some girl your family would have approved over Maria. Nor can you fantasize that you are a suitable young man from her time. You must never wonder what it would be like if you were alive and possessed the important detail that makes a young man suitable: a car.
Most importantly you must never, never remember your so-called "death promise." You must never remember that with your lasted choked breath that you promised you would not leave this world until you left with a woman who loved you completely. That may be what you said but that is absolutely ridiculous. You are here because you were too young to die.
At the end of the day take a deep, unnecessary breath. Let it out with a whoosh. Then think solemnly on the rules you have broken, not with a sense of guilty pride. Then take time, you have enough of that, to reflect and start over.
Fin.
